could not copy a file bigger than 1GB
Hi, I have installed Samba 2.2.8 on AIX 5.2 server. I tried to copy a file (around 106 GB) from win2k server to this AIX box. The "copy" process was stop when the file was copied up to 1GB. Do you know what was wrong? Is there anything I need to set on AIX server site in order to transfer large file? -Shujane

Allow access to a share to all members of a container?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I have 104,000 users, some of which are in the OU: ad.network.local\AD\People\IFAS\Hort Is there an easy way to find all the users in this OU and grant them access to a share? Or do I have to list each user individually? And if so, can I use net user to list the users in an OU? - -Tom -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.6

Samba ADS on AIX 6.1 TL04
Hi All I'm trying to intergrate samba server with ADS on AIX 6.1 TL04, for last one week, with idmap / winbind but no satisfactory results. I have gone through various links at samba.org relating to winbind, idmapper and followed http://pware.hvcc.edu/ for precompiled binaries and http://pware.hvcc.edu/AIX-Samba.pdf which is for AIX 6.1 TL03 though. I have found the samba which is provided

Linux integration with AD
Hi All, I extended my AD schema (SFU 3.5) and migrated the users and groups from my NIS domain. The groups migrated from the NIS have the same GID like on the NIS. I added linux machines to my AD domain using windbind, and define on the smb.conf "idmap gid = 10000-20000". I logged in using my AD user account, and when I'm doing "id", I see that all the AD groups

Can't maintain a connection to the Server 2003 ADS on a subdomain
Hello to every Samba expert out there, We've been having a hard time figuring out a particular problem with Samba. After joining the Server 2003 ADS, which is on a different subnet - just going through a router, the membership would drop all of a sudden. Everything works great when the Samba server is on the same subnet as the Server 2003 ADS. I have posted some details on forums, here is a

SAMBA Winbind and AIX and chown not showing ad user id
I changed the separator to + from / and now when I use users=DOMAIN+mylogin, I get access to a share finally. However, when I run chown DOMAIN+mylogin testdir, testdir is not set to DOMAIN+mylogin, it is set to tempfn (temporary id is what the gecos/description says). In aix land, what do I need to do to get it to use WINBIND to set the diretory ownership now? My /usr/lib/security/methods.cfg

Specified user does not exist. Huh?!
Ok folks I?m at my wit?s end here as I cannot seem to join the domain I setup under Samba version 3.0.7. Every time I try and join the domain with a user that has the power to add a machine to the domain it just says that the user does not exist. This happens with all accounts which I have specified in the smb.conf file as a user that can do this function. I have added those users via smbpasswd ?a

Possibly dumb questions about DC and user/system limits
Because of user access growth, the number of processes associated with IMAP has increased and I thought to change some of the configured parms. dovecot -n yields: # 1.1.14: /usr/local/etc/dovecot.conf # OS: AIX 1 005A928C4C00 listen: *:143 ssl_listen: *:993 disable_plaintext_auth: no verbose_ssl: yes login_dir: /var/run/dovecot/login login_executable: /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/imap-login

freeRADIUS + krb5 + samba + AD
Hi, We are using freeRADIUS 1.1.6. + samba 3.0.1 + krb5-1.3.2 talk to active-directory(win2k3). Followed by: http://wiki.freeradius.org/FreeRADIUS_Active_Directory_Integration_HOWTO Now it can work. But there are multiple domains in active-directory. Can samba or krb5 support mutiple domains? How to configure krb5.conf and smb.conf can let it support multiple domains?

SAMBA configuration nightmare (AIX) - idmaps do not work (core dump), ldap/nss_ldap and pam fail
Well, I have tried really hard to get any of the idmaps to work--in that, idmap_ads, idmap_rid, and I have tried to use idmap stroage in ldap with padl (nss_ldap) too, but I have had no luck. If I enable pam in /usr/lib/security/methods.cfg or nss_ldap, I cannot log into the system anymore. If I enable pam in /etc/pam.conf and use in /etc/security/users SYSTEM = "WINBINd or WINBIND[UNAVAIL]

AIX 5.3 Samba member server to an NT domain
Ladies and Gentlemen, I'm trying to get AIX to authenticate users off another Samba server (with an eye to doing the same off a Windows server at some point, just to be flexible). I have been using the binary distribution of Samba 3.0.22 to do this. While I have been able to get users to log in by using the WINBIND authentication method, they still cannot change their password or use FTP. I

Can one set limits on new core dump?
Hi all, Is there anyway to limit the new core dumping panics? Can't find anything on it. (If I'd only looked in that ...) Was my mistake, but winbindd filled up an entire volume and froze out every process writing to that drive. I started it from a shell and my soft limit is already zero. Samba 3.0.24 on AIX 5.3 + winbindd
Hello, I installed Samba 3.0.24 on my AIX 5.3 and configured it to authenticate users via winbind. I followed the previous thread 'Samba on AIX --> nsswitch.conf', copied WINBIND to /usr/lib/security and modified the default: stanza in /etc/security/user to include WINBIND (in the SYSTEM and registry entry, respectively). Additionally, I added an entry in /usr/lib/security/methods.cfg.

Winbind on AIX 5.2
Has anyone had luck getting Winbind from Samba 3.0.11 to compile and authenticate users telnetting (or ssh'ing) into an AIX lpar? If so, what'd you do? :) I've compiled kerberos and openldap, both installed. Able to run the configure script for Samba, pointing LDFLAGS and related to the correct location for the openldap libraries. I've been unable to get Samba compiled

Samba ADS Error "Session setup failed: Call returned zero bytes (EOF)"
Hi Samba Bods, Sorry for re-posting this one but I got no response to my last post except for a level 10 logs request which I uploaded last week. I have been looking at numerous howtos and newsgroup postings and I cannot spot what the issue is. I am sure its a simple config issue, but I am lost .. I am using Samba 3.2.4 compiled from source on AIX 5.3 TL8 and using "security =
