tdb_oob len 1111638618 beyond eof at 8192 in secrets.tbd
Hello,
I don't know if this is the correct channel to ask questions about samba configuration errors so I apologize if it is not. I recently installed samba 2.2.2 on an IRIX 5.3 machine and everytime I run the command
smbpasswd -j <DOMAIN>
I receive the error:
tdb(/usr/local/samba/private/secrets.tdb): tdb_oob len 1111638618 beyond eof at 8192
Unable to write the machine account

reposting problem: tdb_oob len 1111638618 beyond eof at 8192 in secrets.tbd
Hello,
I'm reposting a previous problem that got off the mailing list. I'm now using samba-2.2.4 but still on an IRIX 5.3 machine. When I preform:
smbpasswd -j <DOMAIN>
I receive the error:
tdb(/usr/local/samba/private/secrets.tdb): tdb_oob len 1111638618 beyond eof at 8192

secrets.tbd and ldap - migrating from one samba domain to another
Hey there,
I am using LDAP (without winbind, couldn't get it to work correctly for
whatever reason...) to store both local users as well as the samba users
for my Samba domain. I'm curious, what is necessary to migrate from one
samba domain to another seamlessly... ie, so people don't log in to
their computer and all of a sudden have new user profiles.

Error: Failed to open /etc/samba/secrets.tbd
I am trying to integrate a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 server into our
Windows 2003 domain. I was able to successfully join it to our domain,
but the WBINFO commands keep failing when I start SMB and WINBIND. I
looked at the log files and found this interesting entry in the
/var/log/samba/winbindd.log file:

secrets.tbd going corrupt on powerfailure?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
We're power failing a unit before it goes into production, and we've
noticed that every time we fail it during a data transfer, smbd loses
the domain connection. I've traced it down to the secrets.tdb file.
After a power failure, tdbdump secrets.tdb says:

Samba BDC and secrets.tdb question
I have a question about setting up a samba BDC
(with a samba PDC).
I am running Samba as the PDC on a small network.
Other Unix boxes on the network are running
with:
security = DOMAIN
encrypt passwords = Yes
update encrypted = Yes
password server = 192.168.1.5
So they make use of the PDC for smbmount and smbsh
applications. The W2K box also uses Samba at the PDC.
I want to set up a Redhat

wbinfo check secret fails
I set up 4 Sun X4540 servers running Solaris 10 and Samba v3.0.33. A
couple weeks back, one of the 4 stopped authenticating Windows AD
requests. I've tried removed it an adding it back to the domain, but
still no luck. The global config on the 4 servers is the same, only the
shares are different. When I first installed Samba on this server (and
everything was working), I didn't have to

32-bit Centos 5.1 kickstart hangs on xen domU HVM installation
I am trying to a install Centos 5.1 32-bit Xen HVM DomU onto a Centos 5.1
64bit DomU with the default xen installed and the kickstart hangs at random
points during the install process. Sometimes retrieving the image, sometimes
formatting the filesystem, sometimes installing the packages, etc.
I tried upgrading to xen 3.2 and encounter the same problem before
rebuilding back to stock Centos 5.1

smb access problem through WinXP to samba 2.2.8a-34(SuSE Linux)
Hi there - apologies for the long-ish mail!
I recently performed a SuSE online update to my system, and since then
Samba has refused to work properly. After the update, nmbd produces the
infamous message:

Upgrading 2.2.8a to 3.0.7 UID problems
I have been running samba 2.2.8a with approx 600 users accessing it for
their network drives. What I need to do now is to upgrade it to version
3.0.7. I have been trying to upgrade my development system with limited
success this is what I have done.
I have 2 test environments one is under vm-ware and one is under vm on
os390:-
In order to test the upgrade i did the following:-

winbind -t fails to check secret
Hi All,
I have just upgraded from Samba 3.0.7 to 3.0.20 on mandrake 10.1
Before upgrading I could add a machine account and admin (root) user to the password
backend, join to the domain and check the trust secret. All was well.
wbinfo -a name%password would authenticate, as I require for ntlm_auth with squid
(which was working well).
Now with the same layout, I do this :-

[cfe-dev] [RFC] Open sourcing and contributing TAPI back to the LLVM community
I'm not really clear on the actual benefits of the TBD file, and why Apple
migrated to them in the first place. Shouldn't a dynamic library containing
only the relevant parts (e.g. the dynamic symbol table) be roughly
comparable in size? And, much simpler to support? I assume that's
effectively what "Mach-O Dynamic Library Stubs" actually _were_, before the
introduction of

cfrun equivalent
Is there an equivalent to cfrun in puppet. On the cfengine master you
can do the command cfrun <hostname> which allows you to tell the
cfengine client to run. This is useful for immediately pushing
changes out immediately (or telling the client to pull).

Samba 3 Upgrade Questions
Hi all,
Samba 2.2.8a is currently running on Solaris 8 as a member of a domain. For
testing purposes I have installed Samba 3.0.10 on a test server (Solaris 9)
a a member of a Workgroup.
In a couple of weeks we will be upgrading our production server to Solaris 9
and are planning on doing a fresh install of Samba 3.0.10 at the same time.
I will be saving the following files to be restored after

Reorganizing Puppet Documentation
Greetings,
As the first step in a move to better organize the documentation,
we''re planning to reorganize it into more specific subsections. The
proposed subsections are listed below. If you have any feelings
about the reorganization or would like to call attention to a need
for documentation in one area of the project or another, please feel
