Winbind and email server
Folks,
Sincere apologies for asking this again, but I'm just not getting this to
work, and must be missing something here:
My company's network is based around a Windows 2003 server AD, with several
RHEL AS 3 boxes connected to it via samba (3.0.21c-1). ?This scheme works
very well. ?I've set up, and have successfully been using a sendmail-based
email system, too.
My issue is

Hello all,
Is anyone else experiencing trouble accessing svn.digium.com? Neither
webview nor svn checkout requests are successful. svnview.digium.com works

Multiple problems: installing SWAT, no longer access to a restored (after deletion) share, ACL inheritance
I'm a job trainee, very new to Linux and Samba and was asked to set up a server based on OpenSUSE and Samba. The idea is not to make a production server but to investigate how and how well this works (the company is Windows exclusive at the moment)
I got as far as properly installing Linux and Samba 3 with the help of the guides on the OpenSUSE website. But there are a few things that still

Listening on conversations for training?
Hello
I assume it's possible to do this with Asterisk: To train a new
worker who works remotely, I'd like to have him listen in on support
calls so that he gets to learn the kind of problems that come in, and
how they're solved.
When a call comes in and the support person thinks it's worthy to have
the trainee be part of it, he will ring the trainee so he can join the
call.

Common Linux Power Management (HAL and NUT) (was: Re: ideas for a new UPS infrastructure)
Hi David and fellows,
I'm reviving this important thread about a common power management.
To sum up, the first aim is to allow a better user experience on Linux
by bridging NUT with Linux HAL, and Gnome Power Management / any PM
GUI.
But it also initiate a bigger investigation about how to integrate NUT
support for UPSs into the native OS Power Management infrastructure
for all supported

'Training mode'
I was asked today if we could somehow have a trainee on the phone with a
supervisor conferenced in, but somehow have it so anything the
supervisor says is only heard by the trainee and not the customer.
Is there a feature like that?

Help with GPL license of Asterisk
I would appreciate some help with this. I read the GPL license and basically it says you can do whatever you want with the software (sell, modify) as long as you include the source code, the License and make any changes you make available in the same manner to all others.
My questions is this: If I develop an external application (say a Call Center application or a GUI management application)

Thanks for, in effect, telling the people who still reply on icecast1
that they're useless.
As that would make us put a lot of faith in icecast 2.
You people need to get over your "If it isnt ogg, it's shit" mentality.

Samba 4 KVNO mismatch - Failure to join AD domain (Windows & Freenas)
Hello all,
I've run into the issue described here:
http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba-technical/2010-September/073075.html
To sum it up, I installed samba4 from git on a debian wheezy system.
Initially, I was able to join Windows 7 clients to the AD controller.
However, trying to get freenas 8 to join has been failing. In the end,
trying to get it to work I changed administrator's

every client who may ever want to browse a non passworded share on the

Re-release of version 1.3.2?
Hello,
The project I work on, the Clear Linux Project for Intel Architecture,
regularly scans for new releases of upstream packages. On January 1, the
scans detected a flac 1.3.2 release tarball. However, when a build was
attempted at a later date (January 10), a hash mismatch was detected
between the originally detected release tarball and the one currently
published at the download mirrors.

User Manager for Domains -- Groups not showing
I have a network of about 100+ users with a Samba 3.0.25 server with
an LDAP backend that I configured myself (with some help). Recently I
have had to add about 300 more users to my system and now I need to
get a slightly less technical person to help me manage the accounts.
I've been happily using smbldap-tools all of this time, but when I
showed what I do to my hapless trainee, her eyes

R software installation problem
Dear R-help,
Please could I have some quick guidance on what I'm doing wrong when trying
to instal R software? (I have read the R-FAQs and instructions, and watched
youtube instructional videos on installing R, but they didn't help)
I've attached screenshots to hopefully make what I've done clearer. Basically,
R doesn't seem to be installing correctly and I can't figure
