SAMBA configuration nightmare (AIX) - idmaps do not work (core dump), ldap/nss_ldap and pam fail
Well, I have tried really hard to get any of the idmaps to work--in
that, idmap_ads, idmap_rid, and I have tried to use idmap stroage in
ldap with padl (nss_ldap) too, but I have had no luck. If I enable pam
in /usr/lib/security/methods.cfg or nss_ldap, I cannot log into the
system anymore. If I enable pam in /etc/pam.conf and use in
/etc/security/users SYSTEM = "WINBINd or WINBIND[UNAVAIL]

winbind and pam and ssh that's pam enabled
Okay,
winbind works and I can su - DOMAIN+user now. When I try to log in
with ssh (pam enabled), however, I see in the log it accepts my
password, but then the session closes. My pam.conf has;
su auth sufficient
/usr/lib/security/pam_winbind.so
login auth sufficient
/usr/lib/security/pam_winbind.so debug
sshd auth sufficient

What can I look at to understand why chown keeps saying user does not

wbinfo -t shows secret is fine

something equivalent on aix?

PAM on AIX - resolved
I previously asked about this problem with pam on IBM's AIX Unix
> I get the errmsg:
> auth|security:err|error dovecot-auth PAM: load_modules: can not open
> module /usr/lib/security/pam_prohibit
FWIW, it turned out that the default PAM libraries are 32 bit, while I
had compiled DC at 64bit.
The /etc/pam.conf lines come standard like this:
telnet auth required

AIX 6.1 Problem with module WINBIND
Hello,
I'm new on this list, here's the problem we are experiencing :
We have installed pware61-64.samba.3.6.0.0.bff.gz on an Aix partition running on 6100-06-05-1115.
We have succeeded in entering the system in our AD.
We can reach the domain : commands /opt/pware/bin/wbinfo -a USERNAME is correct.
The problem is that lsuser -R WINBIND don't work : message "User does not

Problem with different case logins
Hi,
we have a system (Debian sarge) that uses LDAP for user
authentication, via pam. We also have virtual users by using a static
userdb [1], using the directory structure /var/lib/dovecot/postoffice/%u
(i.e., a directory under /var/lib/dovecot/postoffice with the name of the
user). The directory /var/lib/dovecot/postoffice belongs to
postoffice:mail. IMAP folders, indexes and stuff go here;

BUG: Authentication client sent unknown handshake command
Hi everybody,
I'm using dovecot-2.2.11 on NetBSD.
After a kernel upgrade, while using the same dovecot binaries (they were working perfectly until today), I'm experiencing this error (more log at the end of my email):

login script
Hi everybody! Here is my first question :)
I have a solaris machine running samba, and a lot of computers with
windows 2000. I need to generate a log file with the time when a user
logon into the machine and the time when the user logout.
I tryed the following ...
In the smb.conf I wrote in the [netlogon] section
[netlogon]
root preexec = /usr/local/samba/lib/mylogin.pl %T %u %m

combining two back ups...
Hello list,
See verbose background below[1]
I've just backed up my oldmachine that I have been using recently to an
external drive with:
sudo rsync -avuAESX /home /run/media/mylogin/Backup/home
I have a newmachine that I want to back up to the same destination and
merge to that backup because I'm about to send it away for repair -
which is why I've been using the oldmachine.

Right way to customize Login Engine
I''ve got Login Engine installed as a plugin and it''s working. Now I
need to do some customization. First, the home page. This seems pretty
simple.
* Generate a new controller MyLogin
* Have it inherit from LoginController (require ''login_engine'')
* Override home
Is this right?
But what about customizing the view(s)? Should I be making new views

samba and idmap_rid panic
Sigh,
Someday i will get samba to work on aix. Now I rebuild samba because I
discovered that you needed to request it to build idmap_rid.so or it
will not make it. After the rebuild I moved over the smb.conf again and
net ads joined again. When I try to start samba, however, it panics
with this information:
smb_register_idmap: Successfully added idmap backend 'tdb'

pam_smbpass.so on AIX
Yet another odd one...
I've got it set up now so that swat uses pam_smbpass.so, and once a user logs into swat at least once, it'll update their password in the passdb backend configured for Samba. But, I also need to ensure that when a user changes their password via passwd, it also gets updated. I added the following in /etc/security/login.cfg:
usw:
auth_type = PAM_AUTH

How to control who can log into the samba box
Hello,
I have samba set up using winbind so that I can ssh into the box with
my DOMAIN\mylogin. That's great...kind of. How do I control which
users can login to the box? As it stands now, all users in DOMAIN can
log in, which is not desireable. Do I need to map domain groups to unix
groups? Do I need to map domain users to the box some how? Even if I do
that, how do I then set it up
