bug - 3.0.14, 3.0.21 intractable browsing problems - help needed
Hello: This browsing problem is not going away. We have followed the how-to, used someone else's "known good" config, perused packet dumps until we were blue, and tried replicating the setup in a laboratory environment to see if it was site-specific. The problem is still there: If the Samba server is the domain browser, the Network Neighborhood (or My Network Places) for the

POLL: Does anyone actually use multiple passdb backends on the same server?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Folks, We are discussing removing the capability to chaining passdb backends. It's a decent idea but overly complicates things IMO and unless it has wide spread use, we'll probably axe it soon (voting is starting up on the samba-tecnnical ml now). To give you an example of what I mean, is anyone using something like: passdb backend =

Samba LDAP caching when LDAP server unavailable - possible?
I've been using Samba with OpenLDAP with great success on normal servers. Recently however, it appeared to us that for remote locations it is more economically viable to replace Samba servers with Samba running on little routers like ASUS WL-500g with openwrt firmware/software. It has a broadcom/mipsel CPU, and thanks to openwrt (http://openwrt.org), it is possible to run lots of software

Squid
I''m attempting to setup Squid as shown on: http://shorewall.sourceforge.net/Shorewall_Squid_Usage.html#DMZ The firewall is a Bering 1.0 firewall running Shorewall 1.3.11, Red Hat 7.2 on the server in the DMZ. I''m not seeing the requests come in to the server using tcpdump. The server is 192.168.2.1 connecting to eth2 on the firewall, the local traffic I''m trying to

Connection problem
I've got a test lab set up and im having problems connecting. The first problem is that it takes it a couple of tries before it actually connects the two machines. It complains about bogus data and after trying for a minute or so it connects. kill -USR1 shows that they are connected kill -USR2 only shows the local subnet, not the remote I've tried these versions without any luck: cvs

[Help] IMQ download traffic is duplicated !?
Hi, I have a default class for my un-marked traffic (prio 5) and a prio 0 class for the important stuff, but I do not understand why my download traffic is duplicated in both. It work fine for my upload traffic (same setting except the red class but I have the same result if I create an esfq instead). Any comments/information will be appreciated. Iptables blocks out going connetion some times
Hi?guys. There is a wierd problem with iptables recently, hopes somebody can help me. smb/cifs or nfsv3: which is "cheaper"
I will soon be implementing a Fedora Core 4 (or 5), 2.8MHz Xeon, 1GB RAM, 2.5TB storage, gigabit ethernet server which will hold backup copies of about 200 DVDs. These DVDs will be played through a gigabit LAN to another Fedora Core 4 (or 5) workstation using xine which will then output video to the projector in my living room. I am not asking to start a competition or war on the list. My

Port forwarding on Shorewall box behind NAT ADSL router
Hi, Before I go any further, I''m no networking expert, and the sheer volume of documentation on the Shorewall website makes my brain hurt.. Some time ago I moved from an area with cable internet to an ADSL only area. While on cable, I''d set up an old P3 box running Gentoo as a firewall/gateway/file server, running shorewall (currently v2.2.3) and dnsmasq. I''d

Shorewall and CUPS printing interference
I''m having a problem with the Shorewall firewall and CUPS printing interfering with each other. My Linux firewall machine is acting as both a CUPS server and client for all of my tests. Shorewall 2.0.13 CUPS 1.1.22-2 Linux kernel 2.6.9 CUPS was working fine to print to my Epson C84 (network connected via a Netgear PS101 print server using lpd://PS101.IP.address/raw ) until I
