PDC: Linux Client can't join the domain.
Hi there. I've a problem with using samba as Primary Domain Controller
with backend ldap. Version release (Samba 3.2.5, OpenLDAP 2.4.11) on

When I try to join the domain with a Windows XP Pro Client, all works

How do you join a Linux mailserver to a Samba domain?
It looks like I need the Schema Master and RID Master roles installed on
my Samba AD DC
How do I get those roles installed and/or how do I expand the Samba AD
schema? I'll search the Wiki

win 10 client on linux pdc, join domain ok, logon script fails to run
Hi,
On windoze 10, I can only access "//hostname", i.e. "//DEV2" (net bios
name)
How do I tell it to access samba as "//DEV2.COMPO" (latter is domain?)
I have looked at entries in lmhosts.sam - is this correct?
DNS is not on linux box, google 8.8.8.8 through my router.
Also, \\dev2\netlogon is accessible but \\dev2\sysvol is not. should I copy
the smb.conf

win 10 client on linux pdc, join domain ok, logon script fails to run
Hi,
Just in case someone looks at this thread, I've fix my samba win10 issue
with PDC. Here's what I did:
To over come perhaps a DNS issue where complete name of server including top
level domain name could not access box as \\hostname.tld\<share>
I change the hostname to match netbios name.
#cat dev2 > /etc/hostname
#reboot
edited hosts file to make sure old name was

Can't authenticate, from a linux client, against a samba PDC/tdbsam
Hi all,
Since September 2006, I've been using a samba PDC (3.0.20) with tdbsam, to
authenticate the users of a school network (90 XP boxes). All the users are
able to log in the network from XP boxes.
Recently, I've installed a samba client (K12LTSP) in the domain, but, I' ve
a problem getting linux client to authenticate against the Samba PDC. After
setup all the config files

Linux client joined to domain
I am studying how to join a (most likely) a Debian/Ubuntu based client to
an existing domain as a workstation. (Have experimented with linux joins
before so not too concerned with the join part. I can figure that out on my
own.)
There are two DC's, one member server, and multiple W10 workstations on the
domain.
My question is this, if the Debian/Ubuntu based client (workstation) like a

Join Linux client to Samba PDC domain
Hi list,
I know this is maybe an awkward question but I wonder if tis possible
to join linux clients to a samba domain and if so how would I set up
their smb.conf?
I want to accomplish the same thing in a Samba PDC domain as in an
Windows ADS domain.
Today I have in one environment
Windows 2003 PDC
Windows XP clients
Linux File Server which is joined to the domain, utilizing winbind,

Hello folks!
I am trying to make sure we can use Linux/Win2k3 mix in
my company. After reading up in the documentation I fealt
it sounded so good I would propably get there with little effort...
Well, halfway there I got fast enough. But that won't do...
I have successfully joined the AD-Domain from my Linux host.
And I also can authenticate a AD user in the Linux host.
I used nsswitch and
