ADS Join problem samba3.0.14a kerberos 1.3.5
Hi List,
I'm getting an error join an ADS Domain, using samba 3.0.14a & kerberos
1.3.5.
When I look at the debug output from the join attempt, it almost seems
as though
The join is looking for an OU or something from the AD that doesn't
exist. I'm not an
Windows person and the AD admins are not around to help peep this out.
Can anyone take a look at the debug output below and

net getlocalsid problem
Hi I decided after some testing and experimenting, to move the
production servers from 2.2.x to 3.0. so I've installed samba3.0 in
paralel with the old binaries. To start the migration I wanted to save
the old domain SID, to can make the migration as transparent as
possible, so I did:
net3 -d 10 -I 127.0.0.1 getlocalsid
while the old binaries are still runing all that I've got

re. Initial Samba Setup
On a recommendation from this list I checked the junklog file, the
output from which I attached below. It looks as if it does not even see
the linux machine as it indicates not seeing "explorer" which is the
local netbios name. The Win XP machine does not even show in the log.
Here is the last entry for nmbd.log:

I am running SuSE Linux 9.0 with Samba 3.0.13 and have configured Samba with ldap and heimdal kerberos
Attached is my debug level 10 error log created when the join is attempted.
I would appreciate any advice on solving this problem.
Thanks in advance

Can't join AD anymore after migration to 3.0.30
After migrating from 3.0.26a to 3.0.30 I cannot join my AD member server
to the domain anymore:
I get a DCERPC_FAULT_INVALID_TAG.
As I didn't change my Windows 2000 SBS Server, this looks like a new
feature in Samba 3.0.30.
Do I have to also migrate my Heimdal - if so, which version is required?
Kind regards,
Jens
P.S: Is there a way to find out the code changes in Samba 3.0.30?

net join, client tls bug?
QUESTION: Does samba have client side TLS capabilities?
BACKGROUND
Samba ADS compliant distributions tried:
RHEL samba 3.0.10
Blastware samba 3.0.22 (for Solaris 8 and above)
Solaris 9 compilations 3.0.24, 25b, 25c, 26a
My ADS is running in native 2003 mode. The only access I have
to it is to set up Machine accounts.
SMB.CONF
For all versions I used the same smb.conf (see end of document)

error: net ads join - Debian AMD64 sarge
Can anybody from our experts help please?
I had some trouble with joining a Win2003SP1 (SFU Schema is also
installed) domain in ADS mode - config files and error logs are listed
at the end.
the goal is:
-joining a Win2003SP1 domain (with SFU Schema) in ADS-mode
-authenticate with winbind / PADL against this ads-dc (also offline for
notebooks with padl cache plugin)
It would be great, if

Getting ads_connect: Strong authentication required when doing ne t ads join
In my lab I successfully got everything working running our secured Active
Directory and Fedora Core 3. In our AD we have secured settings like
refusing NTLMv2, require LDAP signing, SMB signing and more. In the lab we
have the following rpm's:
krb5-workstation-1.3.4.7
samba-3.0.8.0.pre1.3
openldap-2.2.13-2
But now we're implementing this in production and there we're running Red

Getting ads_connect: Strong authentication required whendoing ne t ads join
Yes, this is in fact caused by LDAP server signing requirements set to
"Require Siging". I put a bug in previously here:
https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=765
And Jeremy Naylor created a patch to add TLS support in libads. The TLS
method is potentially more secure, but it requires a certificate be
installed on the KDC.
You could try applying the patch and setting up the

Hi,
I just tried to join my SLES9 (Suese Linux Enterprise Server 9) to my

fine (kinit gives me a valid kerberos ticket), but the
`net ads join -U $DOMAIN\\$USER` command segfaults.
Software I have intalled:
- - samba 3.0.23c (from ftp.samba.org)
- - heimdal 0.6.1rc2

SV: Getting ads_connect: Strong authentication required w hendoing ne t ads join
Thanks for that interesting information. But how come it works in my lab
(where I'm running Fedora Core 3)? Could it be because I'm running a newer
version of LDAP? You think this will be fixed in future releases without the
need to put certificated on the DC?
Are there any detailinformation where to put the certificate on our DC:s?
Unfourtunately we're not running any CA in our

net ads join hangs forever
I am trying to join my Linux workstation to my ADS domain.
Unfortunately, I'm not having much success. net ads join hangs forever
(or at least for more than 12 hours) when run. The computer account is
created in the domain, but the process never completes. tdbdump
secrets.tdb shows no results, and wbinfo shows users and groups from the
trusted domains but not from the domain I am trying to

302rc1 and AIX 5.2
I'm getting some wierd things going on. Mostly segfaults with testparm,
but others as well...
AIX 5.2, IBM C compiler version 6.0, libiconv 1.9.1 compiled in shared
mode.
I've resolved the LIBPATH thing so I can compile correctly now.
When I start nmbd, or smbd with the -D option they just chew up a ton of
cpu and log level 10 only shows the code pages being mapped and that's it.

HELP: Samba + Windows Server 2003 SP2 AD/DC
Hey, I don't know if this is the right list to ask this question in, but I have tried on the IRC (irc.freenode.net #samba) and people on there advised me to try here instead.
