samba 2.2.7a and multiple logins...
Hello I use a new samba server with LDAP support as PDC for some Windows2000 and WindowsXP machines. All is working nice. The useer can login with a user/password in the domain, we have remote profiles, the user can access the samba shares and print etc. But after some time (< 1 day) we get a smbstatus output like the attached file. Users are connected multiple times with the same share

Win2k, Domain logon, permissions
I first asked this question at the end of October, got a response which didn't solve the problem, and have finally got back to the issue now. I'm running 2.2.7a, recently upgraded from 2.2.0 as Domain Logons for Win2K were suspected to be part of my problem. Anyway, the issue relates to AutoCAD (actually a vertical product called Land3) and a command which works with winXX boxes, but

Laptop users as domain members; profiles
I would like to implement Samba as a PDC in our organization, but am wrestling with how to handle laptop users. If I join them to the domain and give them a domain account, I will still need to allow them a local account so that they can logon on the road. This means that they will have two distinct accounts and two distinct profiles. I could initially make the two profiles identical by

Samba 3.0.4: some problems with SWAT/STATUS and smbstatus
Hi, I just installed Samba 3.0.4 on a Solaris 2.6 server. I had no problem compiling, intalling and configuring it, and everything seems to go OK. People can connect to all the configured shares without any problem. But I have some problems when getting server status either via SWAT/STATUS or using smbstatus: First, in the "Client" field of the SWAT/STATUS report I have problems

Samba version 3.0.24-4 on a Fedora Core 5 box. I've been working solidly on this for the last 2 days but don't seem to be getting anywhere. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I've found that once a file has been opened, smbstatus shows the file is locked as expected (see below) Locked files: Pid Uid DenyMode Access R/W Oplock

strang locking behaviour with macosx clients
I'm running a samba pdc on my gentoo box in a mixed environment with a couple of Windows XP clients and only a few MacOSX clients. The users told me, the file locking across the platforms does not work properly sometimes. I tried to google my problem, but without luck. I switched all the flags related the lock mechanism of samba on and off, but the problem seems to be solved yet. The only

Problems with Oulook Clients
Hello all. I have problems with clients running Outlook 2003 that keep getting IMAP server timeout errors, "mailbox in an inconsistant state" Are there any mods to be made to the config file that could eliminate this? It happens about ever 10minutes. Here is what our previous Sys Admin sent me on our setup. dovecot is the IMAP server that allows clients to connect and get to their

I?ll have to check out the script issue on Monday. You said the lock needs to be the same on all nodes. I can do that but this is now in production and restarting the ctdb service forces a failover of the ip, which actually causes a failure of a few of our Kubernetes sql database pods - they freak out and don?t recovery if storage is ripped out from under them. Is there a way to do this

trouble with file group owners with Samba 3.0.22.
We're running Samba 3.0.22 on a Debian system with kernel 2.6.16.16. The file system is jfs with POSIX ACL and Security labels support. We have setup winbind so our Samba server grabs the user names and passwords from our NT PDC. I have tried creating files with two users. One is called scanner2 and belongs to the windows group scanning. The other user is Administrator and belongs to the

[POSIX ACLs] Only ACE rules from Samba Primary Group are applied.
Hi, I've a samba 3.0.24 server running in a debian "alike" OS with a (Open)LDAP backend and I'm having the following problem: I have LDAP users that belong to more than one (POSIX) group. For instance, I have a user2 that belongs to group "users" and "grupo2" and I have a share with the following ACL settings: getfacl /home/shares/share1/ getfacl: Removing
