ACLs fail in 3.0.23d
Whenever I try to read or modify ACLs from my Windows 2000 PDC, my Samba
Domain Member Server (Security = ADS) does not allow setting ACLs, nor
does it display the existing ACLs.
- I have setup ACLs in my Kernel
- I have translated and installed libacl and libattr
- I can see and modify ACLs with getfacl and setfacl.
- I have translated Samba 3.0.23d with --with-acl-support=yes
- I have enabled

nmbd and port 135 / dce rpc WINS
These are already open. I'm pretty sure that NT4/2003 PDC's make a
DCE/RPC over TCP connection to pull down the <1b> entries from the wins
server. I have done packet captures on test NT4 wins server to see how
PDC's pull their domain lists, and I see the port 135 three way
handshake, which then gets switched over to a tcp port 1028 which is the
dce/rpc requests and responses.

Win2K cannot retrieve print driver, XP is okay
Hi all,
I'm having trouble persuading Windows 2000 to find the print driver on
a CUPS/Samba 3.0.20 server. The whole system has been working
perfectly with Windows XP clients for the last couple of months, but we
have a few Windows 2000 PCs/servers that need to have the printers
installed, and when double-clicking on a shared printer the Win2K
machines are saying that the print server

XP client printing junk to printers installed using print$ share
Hi all,
I have installed samba server and pritners. Instead having to put drivers
to all clients, I decided to use the print$ share, so that, as I read, I can
also make use of printing accounting.
I did all the requird steps to install the pritner on my FC4 system, put all
the required driver files to the print$ share, added the driver files to
samba (npcclient adddriver) , verified samba can

Odd Samba behavior using Windows XP client API RemoveDirectory function
I'm having problems with a utility I wrote deleting folders from a
Thecus N4100 Samba based fileserver. I do not have access or control
over its Samba config file and this may not be a Samba problem but
perhaps someone here can point me in the right direction???
When I issue a Windows API RemoveDirectory function against an empty
folder residing on a Samba share, the function returns with a

winbind-client: irregular "Connection reset by peer" errors when using Win 2003 server
Hello!
I've integrated samba into an existing NT Domain managed by a windows
2003 server. Recently I'm have trouble to use the "groups" command get
the group of domain users. It worked well for weeks (but perhaps after
setting up an ldap-connection to the same server via the apache2 module
auth_ldap), there are irregular connection-losses, so winbind seems not
to be able to

Problem Joining an XP CPU to Samba Domain
Hello,
I have an XP (SP2) CPU that has just been reloaded with the OS (hard drive
was reformatted).
The NIC works and I can access the Internet with no problem.
When I join the CPU to the domain (there are many other CPUs already on this
domain), it joins.
After the mandatory reboot, if I try to log in using a domain account, I get
an error saying the username and password are incorrect. I

Samba, win xp and acls
Hello all,
I'm working and searching for a few days to obtain this result :
* I want to share some directories between differents users and groups
(windows XP clients) using a minimum but efficient configuration with
samba and posix acls.
* I would like that users windows configuration stay on locals machines
(no roaming accounts),
* When registering users and computers on the domain,

Samba Posix ACL and classical files permissions
Hi,
i'm experiencing a strange behavior in the way samba shows file and
folders permissions under windows explorer.
When i open the folder or file properties under windows (xp sp2 btw), it
shows in the Security panel all the entries, both classical posix ones
and posix acl ones; but if i select each one of them to see file
permissions, it will show only the permission of users indicated

ASN.1 encoding ended?
Hi all. Im having a bit of a problem.
I have about 20 Samba servers all over the country on 256/512 WAN links.
We just upgraded our primary NT4 domain to mixed-mode Active Directory on
Windows 2003.
In addition to that we have a native-mode Active Directory domain on Windows
2003. We were planning on merging
a couple of NT4 domains into 1 native mode Active Directory domain, but
plans have

pseudo domain login (fast user switch)
I've got a bunch of Win XP Pro machines, and I setup domain logins to the
samba server so I'd have roaming profiles, etc. Alas, I've now discovered
that windows doesn't let you use fast user switching when you do domain
logins.
I really want fast user switching -- is there a way to configure samba /
winXP to fake some the domain login features? I don't care about password

Setting ACLs from Win 98 Clients
Hello,
I have samba installed on an updated installation of Debian 2.2. Using
kernel 2.4.18 with the ext2 ACL and EA patches. Samba is configured to
support ACLs. Win2k clients can update the ACLs on the server.
I have installed the Windows NT4 Server tools for Windows 95 onto a couple
of our Windows 98 clients. However, when we right click on an object, go to
the security tag and click the

3.0.20 usermap script execution
I have created a mapusers.bash script (listed below) for mapping Active Directory handles to unix logins. This script is currently working as documented. I would like some insight into how and when this script gets called. I assumed that upon establishing each samba connection, after the active directory handle gets authenticated with the domain controller it passes the domain\handle to this

Fwd: Unable to change passwords from Win XP Pro clients
I think the "client ip signing options" don't matter on the domain
controller, since the domain controller is not functioning as a server.
(If this was a samba member server, then it would matter.)
You MAY want to try
