Solaris winbind with password aging (workaround inside)
A few days back, I asked whether it was possible to have winbind co-exist with password aging on a Solaris system. Seems like there is no easy way around this. After a few more days of frantic poking and truss-ing around, I found a crude but seemingly workable workaround. It seems the the library /usr/lib/passwdutil.so.1 is the one responsible for checking that the passwd entry in

XDMCP
Dear SAMBA team: I have a question about SAMBA because I install red hat linux 6.2 server in our server and it is in the NT LAN. I try to let other NT machine log in to that linux server through Reflection X. So I choose SAMBA. I would want to know that does SAMBA support XDMCP ? Because Reflection X use XDMCP broadcast and it can detect other servers on our NT LAN. And

XDMCP - no GDM login, only gray screen with X
I'm having trouble getting the GDM login screen to show up when I connect from a remote host. I'm using Xming on the local Windows machine, but every time I connect to the remote server all I get is a gray window with the X cursor. I have "Enable=true" in the [xdmcp] section of /etc/gdm/custom.conf. IPtables is disabled. I've googled around and read through the xdmcp page

Using LightDM as a headless XDMCP server without physical graphics card
Hi, I'm currently testing the XDMCP functionality of LightDM which seems to work flawless, however, there is one issue which I cannot resolve: The machine I am using for my setup is a dedicated machine running some VM's, these VM's don't have any graphics card associated and run headless and the only form of command is via a web interface or SSH. LightDM seems to use the

auth with kerberos
Hello, I am running dovecot 1.0RC2 and I'd like to know if there is a way to make dovecot provide PLAIN, LOGIN, CRAM-MD5, NTLM authentications from a kerberos database. GSSAPI works great, but I currently have to have two password databases, one for GSSAPI and one for all the others. What I'd like is to have only one password database (namely kerberos). I know that cyrus-sasl (which most

FW: Re: Help! Solaris 8 + winbindd
Hello List, I'm not too up on my Unix programming as I should be, but having just re-compiled the nsswitch directory on a Solaris 2.6 box, it would seem that the winbind_nss_solaris.c source file is never compiled into libnss_winbind.so - could this be why the module does not work on Solaris? If this isn't compiled, I can only presume that the module does not show the correct interface to

Back to 3.0.1, Winbind and Solaris 9
I've gone back to 3.0.1 to try and get winbind to work with my Solaris 9 machine and NT4 domain. Everything works except user authentication. The wbinfo and getent commands do what they are supposed to. I've included a truss of 'su - ganguly' According to pamlog, the user 'ganguly' has been granted access but it is still hanging. How do I do a truss of a telnet login?
