smbclient can't write to windows share with domain account
Samba version: 3.0.22

netbios for my colinux sandbox, running on the same PC: fileserver2

I have a colinux sandbox on my PC (Win XP Professional) which I'm using as a domain controller. This lets me test my PDC configuration without putting it live in our production environment. I've successfully ported our old smbpasswd database to pdbsam and

2.2.2: smbclient and stdin
Red Hat 6.x, 2.2.19, 2.2.2
In 2.0.x you could do:
smbclient '\\srv\shr' -U% -c 'dir'
or
(echo dir) | smbclient '\\srv\shr' -U%
The latter would exit after re-displaying smb>.
In 2.2.x, the "-c" form is ok, but the other one does not exit, you are left at

Is this the new intended behavior or is a bug?

accented share name ok with smbclient but not with smbmount
Hi,
I'm trying to mount with smbmount a WinNT4.0 share resource from a Linux
running Samba 2.2.2.=20
WinNT box is installed with code page=3D850.
The resource name includes grave accented characters, in particular: =E0.
I'm trying to smbmount with:
$ smbmount '//NThostname/of=E0rs' /mnt/ofors -o
ip=3Dxxx.xxx.xxx.xxx,username=3Dofors,password=3D******,workgroup=3Dwwwwww

smbclient -M/session request failed
Hi Folks!
I try to send a popup via "smbclient -M" from a sun (SunOS 5.8, Samba
2.0.7, hostname "sonne") to a WinXP (hostname "dezntmneubeck_x") but it
fails. Both machines are in the same physical network. All I get are the
following lines:

Folks,
I looked through the archives, but didn't see anything like this.
I have a network with a mix of Win95, Win98, and WinME clients (and one
Linux system w/ Samba server version 2.2.2).
All systems belong to a workgroup called "Oteima".
All Win95 and Win98 clients see all other systems (including the Linux
box) in one list.

Bad smbclient put performance and smbfs write performance
Hi,
I've had extremely bad smbclient put performance when connecting from my Linux
box to a Windows 95 box. I only get about 10KBytes/s! All other forms of data
transfer work fine, and I get from 600-700KBytes/s. This is on a local 10BT
LAN. I've seen a few other reports of this, but no solutions as of yet.
smbclient does puts just fine to another Linux/Samba Server. I'm using

smbclient-winpopup-message
Hi!
I updated my Samba from 2.0.7 to 2.2.2.
Now the command "smbclient -M <username>" doesn't work anymore.
Even <username>#3 doesn't work (where nmblookup finds the correct IP).
I know that you have to give a hostname, but I will send messages to users
whereever they're logged on.
Any hints?
Thanx!

FUTEX_WAIT 3.0.23a [Fwd: Re: amanda-2.5.0p2 hanging on smbclient with configure]
Would anyone have any ideas with smbclient sits at FUTEX_WAIT in below
message?
Typing:
strace smbclient -d 5
shows it sitting at:

help - smbclient works: smbmount doesn't
Naturally, you tinker around with stuff long enough and you break it.
I am running Samba 2.2.2 on a Corel linux box and am attempting to connect
to a share on a windows XP system. At one point, this was working fine.
Then I spent time trying to reconfigure my kernel so that I could attach a
floppy tape drive and now I can connect with smbclient to the share, but I
cannot with smbmount. I have

Problem with smbclient
Hi!
I have a problem with smbclient and the option -M.
I'd like to send Winpop Messages to my Windows Clients.
I have noticed that command only works with short hostnames.
I have for example a win95test1.no.domain host. Name resolution is done
by
bind 8 on the samba box.
if I do
echo "Test PopupMessage" |smbclient -M win95test1
it works. (The winpopup.exe program is of course

generating error message on smbclient -L apollo
Hello,
When I run the 'smbclient -L apollo' command at the UNIX prompt a I get an
error.
I have gone as far as I can in this DIAGNOSIS.txt file. Does anyone have
any thoughts on what may be causing my problem ?
I have made my comments to the DIAGNOSIS.txt file via '---- davidw

Also, I thought I'd pass on the output

problem connecting with smbclient
Hi, i have just joined the list and apologise if this has already been answered, i did have a look through the archive but without the search i didn't have any luck finding an answer.
I have a series of machines set up to dial up to my samba server. I connect to these machines every night using smbclient to download a series of files (transaction batches from a POS system).

Smbclient client IP address
Hello,
Is it possible to specify the client's ip address? I've have tried
creating a custom smb.conf and passing that to smbclient but to no
avail. It always chooses the default ip on the FreeBSD box. I have a
remote samba machine that auths by IP and I need to set a different
client ip other than the box's default.
Thanks in advance

smbclient printout
Hello,
Sorry, I guess my first post wasn't allowed - perhaps because I had HTML
embedded in it?
Question:
Is there a way that I can have the output of smbclient be redirected to a
file and have it updated every time someone opens / closes a file in the
share?
The only idea that I have thus far is to write a script that would output
this data to a log file, and have the script

smbclient ( 3.0.31 ) can not connect to 3.2.0 server and vice versa
This is getting real tough to debug.
titan : Solaris 8 running samba 3.0.31
aequitas : OpenSolaris running samba 3.2.0
I can do basics test just fine :
