Compile of OpenSSH 3.7.1p2 failing - TRU64 5.1A
All,
I'm getting the following error message when trying to 'make' OpenSSH
3.7.1p2:
cc: Severe: compress.c, line 19: Cannot find file "zlib.h" specified in
#include directive. (noinclfilef)
#include "zlib.h"

Stop.
What can I do to get this to compile correctly?
Thanks in advance,

Conditional logistic regression for "events/trials" format
Dear R users,
I have a large individual-level dataset (~700,000 records) which I am
performing a conditional logistic regression on. Key variables include
the dichotomous outcome, dichotomous exposure, and the stratum to which
each person belongs.
Using this individual-level dataset I can successfully use clogit to
create the model I want. However reading this large .csv file into R and

net rpc join fails the first time but succeeds the second
Hi.
I'm having some trouble when trying to join a SAMBA machine, acting as
a member server, to a NT-style domain server managed by a SAMBA PDC
using an LDAP back-end. Both machines are running samba-3.0.10-1.4E.6
on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.1 Update 3 for AMD64.
When trying to add the member server to the domain, it fails with an
error message. However, if I try to add it again, the

Samba isn't functional here?? Or my settings??
Hello all. I've encountered a strange situation while testing samba-2.2.5.
We placed a .exe file within a samba share and gave only read permissions to
everyone. It mapped correctly on the unix side and it appears in the NT
security box with only read permissions for everyone, but it still executes
when opened. I've included my smb.conf file and the host is a Sun

Deleting Old Printer Drivers
Hi all,
I am running samba 3.0.6 on Linux and am wondering if anyone knows if it
is possible to delete a print driver from the driver database? I have
around 20 printers running off of this print server and occasionally we
remove all of a certain type of printer. Also, for some reason, the
drivers sometimes seem to become corrupt and it would be nice to be able
to entirely remove a driver and

Printers Showing up on Alternate Server Names
Hi all,
I am running samba 3.0.6. I am having an issue on my print server
regarding how the printer ends up registering itself on the Windows
clients. We have a machine named "bob", "bob" has an alias both in DNS
and in the netbios name in Samba of "printserver", "bob" has an IP
address of 192.168.1.1. In a seemingly random fashion sometimes when I

BAD SIG[nature] errors from XP client
Greetings,
I've set up a Samba 3.0.23a PDC on Fedora Core 5 and joined a
couple XP clients to the domain successfully. However, when I start
using the Samba PDC's "homes" share from the XP client, I eventually
get errors such as the following:

Group Mapping Problems with Samba 3.0.2a & OpenLDAP 2.2.6
Hello all,
I am attempting to setup a Samba 3.0.2a based PDC using OpenLDAP 2.2.6 for
my user/group authentication backend. So far everything seems to be working
properly, I can join the domain from a Win2k PC, login via an account
created with smbldap-useradd.pl, map my home directory, run the proper login
script, etc. However, with all of that working I'm still having
difficulties getting

bivariate kernel density estimates at point locations ( r ather than at grid locations)
You can try `locfit', though it does local likelihood, rather than
garden-variety kernel density estimation. Here's an example:
library(locfit)
data(cldem)
den.fit <- locfit(~ x1 + x2, data=cltrain)
predict(den.fit, newdata=cltrain)

LDAP useradd command?
Hi,
Is there an equivalent of a useradd for systems that are using LDAP user
management? I know I can build an LDIF file and import it, but it is a bit
of a pain to do it manually all the time.
Is there not an easier / faster way?
Thanks,
Eric

(Classical) Request for Standardization of expanded TAGS
A month or two ago I sent an email to this list proposing to expand
the list of "standard" tags for Ogg Vorbis. No tag would be required,
but if you wanted to encode certain types of information about a file,
you could use a standard tag.
I went through the whole discussion, and revised my proposal in light
of all the comments from everyone. Here is the updated proposal.
