Hi; I'm having a really odd problem with some Windows ME stations connected to a Samba server. From a command prompt on the ME stations, I do the following: dir *.* This works as expected, all the files in the directory are displayed. smbd keeps maxing out the cpu, must reboot server constantly
This is running in vmware, and I noticed occasionally wmware reports that the cpu is being maxed out by a virtual machine. Logging into the virtual machine and running top confirms that the smbd process is maxing out the cpu. If I leave it alone for a while, eventually it starts dropping connections and not letting people into the file server. Killing the process with kill -9 does no good, it

Erratic / unstable PDC
Greetings all, I have a problem with my Samba server seeming to hang for 10 seconds every 5 minutes or so. Client machines also become sluggish across the entire network during this period. It does not seem to affect file transfers that are in progress. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Clear text authentication impossible???
We have an Exchange 5.5 server in our Samba 3 domain und want to have POP3 access with clear text authentication from clients. But no kind of credentials is accepted. It did a level 10 log on the Samba server and found my clear text password in the log (in nt_chal_resp and lm_chal_resp fields) during authentication. Is it possible that Samba can't handle the clear-text pass-through from

quota-support seems to be broken in 3.0.6/3.0.7
Hello we're using samba based on the debian-package, which we translated including the configure-option "--with-quotas" The user-interaction with quotas is OK, in his (the users) view the partition-size is limited to his quota-hard-limit. This works both with XFS and EXT3. Windows (XP SP1 and SP2) administration of quota is not possible. Using 3.0.5 I can do a
