Cifs client
I've been using the latest cifs 1.8 client at http://linux-cifs.samba.org/ with Fedora 3 and RHE 4. This client seems to have a lot of issues that I did not notice when using smbfs. It seems like when there is an issue with connectivity to a windows machine, and you try to access a cifs mount, the entire session locks up. I basically have to kill the session, log back on, and then there is no

PokeRoom.com ?
Hi, Has anyone managed to install the windows version of the PokeRoom.com software in wine? I can install, but when I try to run it I get: >wine StartPokerRoom.exe fixme:actctx:CreateActCtxW stub! It still looks as it is working, since it tries to check for updates and then a plash screen shows up, showing which modules are being loaded. Then, when loading the game statistics module, it

wifi cluelessness
The nice folks at work have just provided me with a new, really spiffy, ThinkPad. So, I''m trying to get wireless working under CentOS4 and I''m having trouble. First, I can''t seem to find any rpms to just install (this would be really nice). And, second, when I try to build it from the src.rpm that I pulled from the atrpms repository with "rpmbuild --recompile

Envfit, inconsistant result?
Hi R-experts, I am using the envfit function over an ordination of floristic data. The problem is that every time that I run it changes the results. Sometimes dramatically, selecting variables that the first time were not significant. I do not get what could be the problem or if is normal given the permutations are different. # the NMDS ordination gap_flor_NMDS_chord <- metaMDS(gaps_flor,

Inconsistant AD group authentication
Greetings friends: So heres the problem I've been fighting for the last month to no avail. My samba server is joined to a mixed mode AD domain. I want to set permissions on shares based on AD groups, however only _some_ of the group's members are allowed to access the share when I add their group to "valid users". As far as I can tell there are no differences between the AD

Inconsistant result for normalizePath on Windows
Hi Jiefei, the change in handling trailing path separators is not on purpose, but is a byproduct of a new implementation of normalizePath, which now handles symbolic links and normalizes case in long path names. It is not documented what happens to trailing separators, and hence portable programs should not depend on it. I don't think it is a property that should be documented/specified.

inconsistant decimal marker with write.table
Hi, My problem does not happen all the time, nor with all files I save to csv format. I can send my test file (format rda or csv) to whoever would like to replicate (and hopefully explain) my problem. In short, I have a dataset with mostly numerical variables. One of my variable is called pfi2 and is definitely numerical, as shown by this: > summary(test$pfi2) Min. 1st Qu. Median

Inconsistant Search Results
Hi, I have this maddening strange bug using acts_as_ferret. If I search for a given phrase (let''s say "xyz") I get one set of results (lets call them set A). I search for xyz again and I get set A again. I search for xyz a third time and I get a different set (set B). I can keep executing the search query and my result sets continue to cycle a-a-b-a-a-b-a-a-b. It''s
