Printer access errors
Hi
I'm set up Samba on a UnixWare 7.1.3 server, and had configured the printer shares.
They're all global in the [printers] section. When I log in at a Windows XP PC as root,
I'm able to print to all the printers. However, when I try to add a new printer or look at
the print queue on the Windows client side as a different user, I see 'Access denied,
unable to connect'

Printing errors
Today is our first day 'live' with Samba! We're having problems with
printing. Samba is running on a SCO UnixWare 7.1.3 box, and the
printers are connected via Axis and HP JetDirect print servers. The
Clients are Win XP Pro.
When we configured the printers on the clients at the weekend, they
seemed to work fine - the printer drivers installed, and we were able to
print the

Why does lpstat run on Solaris Samba 3.0.1?
Hello, all;
I need help with getting lpstat _not_ to run.
I'm running Samba 3.0.1 on a Sun Solaris 8 server to share out a few print queues, and it works a treat. I also run a print spooler & job management product called Xi-Text, which displaces several of the stock lp* binaries; their implementation of lpstat (among other programs) doesn't completely replicate Sun's

excessive lpstat calls
I run a fairly busy samba server that only serves up users' home
directory. I am running Samba v3.0.20 under Solaris 10 on a Sun v440.
I'm seeing a large number of calls to '/usr/bin/lpstat -v'. These are
probably occuring everytime a new client connects, but I'm not positive.
The server does not have any printers attached to it, has no entries in
/etc/printers.conf, and

LP print service stalls
Hi All,
When our server receives simultaneous print jobs from 2 or more clients, the print service stalls and I have to manually restart it (lpsched).
I am running Samba 2.0.4b under Solaris 2.5.1 on a SPARC 20 and I'm using system V printing. The printers are connected to the ethernet using HP Jetdirect cards and administered by jetadmin on the Sun box.
Any ideas on how I could troubleshoot

Patch for UnixWare 7
Hi,
I have ported OpenSSH-4.0p1 to UnixWare 7.1.4. Can you please add the
following for UnixWare 7 in the configure script:
Description:
+ cross compiler produces i386a.out.
+ libcrypt which needs to come after openssl's libcrypto.
+ passwd needs user name.
Thanks,
Ahsan Rashid

particulars of importing/loading libraries
Dear List:
Sorry for posting maybe a trivial question, but I have a basic
understanding problem. If I have say pack1 and pack2, two R packages,
and pack2 depends on and imports pack1 fully (as in the code below), is
there a way to make all the functionality of pack1 available for the
global and other environments (not only for the functions called from
withing pack2) by loading pack2 only? I

Is printcap information required if no [printers] share?
Hi folks,
I have a print server, running SPARC Solaris 9. I've just upgraded from
Samba 3.0.10 to 3.0.22 and immediately hit system load issues which
appear to be related to the use of "lpstat -v" to determine the
available print queues.
There are about 70 Unix print queues on this system. Running "lpstat -v"
can take something like 20s of wall-clock time. lpstat

Printing banners
Hi
I'm running Samba 2.2.8a on a UnixWare 7.1.3 box. I'd set up the Samba
printer shares, and it seemed to be working fine (only live for a couple
of weeks). However, I've just added some heavy users, and the printer
daemon keeps bombing out. I'd configured the printers to use lpr, but
someone suggested I should use lp, so I thought I'd give this a go at
the weekend.

Availablity of OpenSSH on SCO Unixware 7.1.2
I have been asked to investigate the use of OpenSSH on some of our
systems.
These systems are running SCO OpenUnix ( Unixware 7.1.2).
Are you aware of any issues that may prevent me from using OpenSSH on
this version of SCO.
Thank you

Which file to use?
To Whom It May Concern:
We see three files, openssh-3.8pq.tar.ga, openssh-3.8p1.tar.gz.sig, and
openssh-3.8p1-vs-openbsd.diff.gz
Do we need one of these or a different file to load? Currently, we're
running SCO UnixWare 7.1.1, and could upgrade to 7.1.3.
Thanks for your help.

Default changed (printcap) in 1.9.18p8
Hi all,
Am I the only person to have fallen over the following 'gotcha' ?
Upgraded to 1.9.18p8 from 19.9.17p5 on Friday.
Came in this morning to discover all Printing had died.
Eventually tracked this down to the 'printcap name' setting in Samba jad
changed.
It default was '/etc/printcap' (it must have been as printing was fine
up 17p5 and all previous versions).

samba + cups
Hello everyone
I hope this is not off topic.
The samba + cups thing is driving me nuts.
Samba runs as PDC and print server.
Everything is fine, printing works, automatic driver download works etc.
Now I want only certain people to be able to stop a printer under windows.
After digging around a bit I set my cupsd.conf file up like so:
<Policy default>

Samba and Foxpro for Unix
Hi !
I have an unique situation.
An SCO Unixware 7.1.3 with Samba 2.2.7a (yes, i know; it sucks !)
On the machine, is running MS Foxpro 2.6 for UNIX (it's running pretty well
for several years) but due to new demands (like Crystal Reports, Visual
view; etc) the directories with DBF files were shared using Samba. At the
beginning, when everything was only about reading, there were no

tdb lock failures
We've just gone live with a file & print server, and are having major
problems with Samba. When used out of hours, with all PCs switched on
and connected to the domain, everything works fine. However, during the
day, we have problems where users can't print to any samba-hosted
printer, Access database applications (where the database is held on the
server) won't work, or work

Adding Windows server to Samba domain
We?ve been running Samba 2.2.8 on a couple of UnixWare 7.1.3 boxes for a couple of years. One is acting as a PDC, and supplies things like login scripts and print queues etc. The workstations are all running Windows XP Pro, and login to the domain.
However, we now have a requirement to install a new application that runs on Microsoft SQL server. This will require a new additional server

Query on make
Greetings,
I have created several scripts which needs to be packaged.
I have done my groundwork on rpmbuild
Let us say I have 4 directories with scripts in them
dir1, dir2, dir3 and dir4
I want to create different packages which will contain the compiled
code (err.. shc)
pack1: dir1,dir2
pack2: dir1,dir3
pack3: dir1,dir3
I want the resulting rpm packages will be residing elsewhere (perhaps
