Not creating home directory for domain member at KDE login
I've added the pam changes that use winbind to authenticate users against
the domain controller. I see all of the domain users in the graphical
login, but when a user logs in who hasn't logged in before, the new home
directory (/etc/DOMAIN/<userid>) isn't either being created or it's being
created with permissions that don't allow files to be written under the user
id.

SUSE 9.3 Winbind+ PAM+AD
Hello,
I have been using Fedora Core, Samba, and Active Directory to provide
authentication services for Windows based users for a few years now, but as
an experiment I wanted to accomplish the same service with SUSE 9.3 .
I have been able to get this configuration to run successfully with RH9,
FC1, FC2, FC3, and FC4 (buggy but works), but with SUSE I have stalled a
bit. I feel I have

Winbind & Wrong Password - PAM Issue?
Good Morning,
I have been a user of winbind and Samba for about a year now. It's been
working well for me on Red Hat v. 8.0 and 9.0.
Recently I purchased and installed Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS 3.0 and
configured winbind and samba the same way I normally do. However when I
attempt to authenticate to the Linux workstation before I am even prompted
to enter my password, winbind submits a

we try to migrate our IMAP service from uw-imap to dovecot because of
horrible server slowdown when a lot of people poking in theirs huge imap
folders.
So, I try to run testing instance of dovecot on different imap port (12143)
I have trouble with authentication by PAM module of MIT Kerberos.
It successfuly works for authentificate users of wu-imap but not for
dovecot. I see in

Help! winbind problem...
hello,
please help me, I'm nearly going crazy :((
I tried to authenticate postfix (smtp-auth) via pam_smbpass.so. This
doesn't work, it works with ssh and imap, but not with postfix, darn
(pam_unix is working with postfix)
Then I tried pam_winbind.so, which somebody has told me to use it
instead of pam_smbpass.so.
But this is not working in any way I am trying :(

tdbsam (local) to ldap (tdbldap) backend migration causes pam restrictions not to work anymore?
Hi,
I am using samba 3.0.10 on Debian and have had my users in tdbsam
backend untill now.
They have had the ability to change their unix password along with
samba password and besides that I was able to apply some PAM
restrictions to the users password strength via pam_cracklib.so
library.
I have now moved the users into ldap and auth works ok, but I cannot
change users password and still have

samba, PAM and active directory
Hi,
I want that users can log on (SSH and console) a
Debian box can do it through Active Directory. I still
want that root user can log on (SSH and console) so I
created a wheel group for that.
I can log on successfully with all AD and root
users. However, I'd like to limit the AD users to the
technology domain group.
I've googled a lot:

NT auth with Winbind
Hi All,
I am trying to get authentication against AD using
Winbind and Samba 3. We use Kerberos 5 as well. I know
that winbind is running properly because when I run
wbinfo -a, I get success messages. The problem seems
to be when I try to play with the pam modules. For
kicks, here is the pam module for sshd:
#%PAM-1.0
auth sufficient pam_winbind.so debug
auth sufficient pam_unix2.so # set_secrpc

Ok, I've been literally throwing things in my effort to fix this.
Please help me from damaging something valueable! :)
I've installed Samba 3.0.22 and OpenLDAP etc.
I've used the IDEALX scripts to create the LDAP tree etc.
Everything goes swimmingly until I try to check and see if NSS/PAM is
working right.
I use the following command as shown in SBE to check NSS/PAM working.

Winbind/PAM/SLES 8-problem
Hi Gurus!
I'm working on getting some old SLES 8-serveres to use winbind, letting
users authenticate to our Windows AD. All the setup of samba, winbind,
adding the server to the AD etc. is working fine, and all kinds of
wbinfo returns what it is supposed to. BUT - when I try to login (using
ssh), it utterly ignores winbind, and only tries to validate local
users. Not one entry in messages

FreeBSD 6.1 - winbind - ssh pam problem
Hello All:
I am trying to authenticate against an Active Directory using winbind in
my /etc/pam.d/sshd configuration (below). If the user is in the local
password file, I can authenticate successfully using that user's Active
Directory credentials. However, if the user is not in the local
password file, I get the following errors.
