Your password expires today problem
Hi. I enabled policies with pdbedit. Password must be changed every 90 days and must contain at least 8 characters. I enabled password history too. After that (I tried it in samba 3.4.3 and 3.0.25 with same behaviour) every time a user try to log in the domain using Windows receives a "Your password expires today. Do you want to change it now ?" message box. If the password is changed,

kphone and *
I'm having trouble with kphone on our system. It's using ulaw on an internal network. No NAT. I had it working fine with very similar hardware (an old Dell Optiplex GX1) running as an LTSP terminal. But then I put the same sound card in an Optiplex G1. Kphone will answer the line fine when I call it (call coming from the * machine), but when we try to get kphone to dial, each GUI

enforcing multiple per-mailbox quotas for shared mailboxes
Hi! I'm trying to get quotas for shared mailboxes set up on my server. It's not working, and I fail to understand why. Documentation for setup of this complexity is rather scarce on the web, and the discussions I found either don't directly apply or terminate with "I got it working" but no explanation. Can someone please help? The setup is rather lengthy and complicated, so

Problems with Samba as a ADS domain member
Hi there, I have some problems with a samba server (v. 3.0.14a installed on gentoo linux 2005.1), which is a domain member server in an windows 2003 active directory domain. The authentication works fine, and when I set the permissions on the Linux side for a certain user on a certain folder, he will have the access I granted him. As I'm using reiserfs with acl-support for the /-partition

printer-access not possible after change of dns-name
Hi there, I ran 2 years a perfect samba 2.2.12 on a suse 8 machine, acting as a pdc with w2k-clients. Printing was done with raw-printing over smb to cups (client-side drivers). The old dns-name was "server.localnet", the netbios-name "server". After changing my internal dns-system to "*.example" there is no access to my printer (hp photosmart 1000)

Loosing connection to samba shares
hi list, I've set up my server as standard fileserver and typically everything's working as expected. But sometimes I have these weird connection losses when copying onto the server AND reading from it. At least it seams as if it only happens when there are multiple activities (especially when copying onto the server while watching a DVD lying on another share). The only thing I've

Slow navigation on samba share
hi all, I have a problem with some windows 7 pro (64) clients navigating on samba shares. The user wants to open a folder and then it takes a long time until it opens. Looking into the samba log of the PC it is filled with this entries (seems to check for every ldap user): [2013/03/18 10:10:54.224428, 2] passdb/pdb_ldap.c:572(init_sam_from_ldap) init_sam_from_ldap: Entry found for user:

Can't add machines to domain after Debian-Update
Guten Tag Samba-List, after updating my Linux-Server from Debian Etch to Lenny, some of my workstations (W2kSP4) couln't log into the domain. I removed the machines from the domain, changed the name, created a new machine-account, but I still can't add the machine to the domain. My /etc/smb.conf (see below the logfile) is unchanged since Debian Etch. Perhaps someone

MIGRATE SHARES always fails
Hi, I have an Ubuntu 8.04 box running as Samba PDC (version 3.0.28a) with an LDAP backend, and I tried to migrate a share from a Win2003 server to the Samba box. However, running the "migrate shares" or the "migrate files" commands always results in errors: $ net rpc share MIGRATE SHARES data_share -S w2k3box -U <admin> --destination=localhost migrating:
