there are three sparc buildbots which are hooked up to lab.llvm.org. They are
currently idle because no builders have been scheduled to use them:

force user and read only
Hi
I need a share with read-only access for some developers (to read
logfiles). the logfiles are owned by the application user and group
and have 700 permissions. I have set up the share like this:
path = /applicationx/logs
read only = Yes
valid users = "MYDOMAIN+DEVELOPER1"
force user = applicationx
It does work very well, but somehow it does not look

NT 4.0 SP 3 problems serving up from a SUN Sparc 10 running Solar is 2.5
I am having problems logging into my Sparcstation as user "thompsma" even
though user thompsma is defined in /etc/passwd
and /usr/local/samba/private/smbpasswd using the smbpasswd command. I get
the following message:
"The account is not authorized to login from this station"...
I am attempting to login from CRW048 which is IP 132.225.34.139.
Here is my smb.conf file...

slow sparc questions
I've got a couple of SPARCstation 2s (about as fast as a fast 486, for most
thing) that I'm going to be using for some testing. I realize that these
machines are a bit slow, but when connecting via OpenSSH, it's MUCH slower
than connecting to my 486-DX 50. The point where it waits is just after
"debug: Sent encrypted session key.". The pause is for about 10 seconds,

Best way to Upgrade Samba 3.014a
Hello,
I have Samba 3.014a-Debian in a server Debian 3.1 Release 1 Sarge. The
performance is pretty poor.
My LAN is running at 100mbits/sec. So even at 4 feet from the server I'm
getting slow responses on my windoze 2000 pro computer from samba. It takes
an eternity to copy files from one place to the other. Also, I have
several error messages and files corruption.
Could anybody tell me

Problems building host keys on some SPARCs
Hi,
I've compiled openssh 1.2.2 on Solaris 7/SPARC. On most hosts, things
are fine. I get EGD going, compile openssh, and I can then generate
hostkeys as described in the INSTALL file to get things running.
On a few hosts though, the keygen fails like this:
root at sylow:/source/USR_LOCAL/OFFICIAL/OPENSSH/ssh_client# ssh-keygen -b 1024 -f /etc/ssh/ssh_host_key -N ''

Mounting smbfs as guest at boot time
I have searched for a solution to my problem, and have
only found one short discussion which mentioned it
(http://samba.cadcamlab.org/lists/samba/Aug2001/msg00364.html),
and I didn't feel it contained a resolution I could
use. In a nutshell, I want to mount an win2k share as
'guest' at boot time on a linux web server.[1] It
just won't work any way that I've tried it.

I have been having problems trying to get my samba mounted windows (XP)

changing the start order of things, but it didn't seem to help.

Need help mounting windows shared partitions
You must check it your loopback interface is enabled and use this mount command.
mount -t smbfs "\\\\windoze\\share" /home/user/dir
if your mountpoint is /home/user.

mounting a Samba volume on startup
Hi all, I've been trying to get an answer to this question for a long
time and in a lot of different places, but no luck.
Basically I want to mount an XP volume on my Linux machine at boot time
over Samba. The network is just an XP box and a Linux box, connected by
a crossover cable. The XP box is a gateway to the net (don't ask), with
two NICs, one internal, and one going to the

Problem compiling 2.2.5
I'm trying to upgrade a very old sparcstation running Solaris 8 which
is running dovecot 1.x for few users. All I have for the task is good
old gcc 2.95.2. The poor sod complains because it can't compute the
sizeof(unsigned char prefix_text[]) at line 13 of log-error-buffer.c.
Can I help it by - say - putting a constant between the '[]'?
Or is it unfair? :-)
I don't think

Hello All,
I keep getting rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (1074142 bytes read so far)
rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(165). Does
anyone have any idea of what could cause this? I've gotten the same error on
two seperate machines. One UltraSparc running Linux and the other a
SparcStation running OpenBSD. We have an x86-SMP system running linux on the
