Idiom for column operations?
Is there a better way to express operations between matrices and column vectors than transposing the matrix twice? This is the kind of thing I'm talking about: m = matrix(1:20, 3, 4) v = colSums(m) t(t(m) / v) ## <-- kinda ugly, ain't it? I thought of converting the column vector to a matrix: m / matrix(v, nrow = nrow(m), ncol = length(v), byrow = TRUE) But that seems even

Data management problem: convert text string to matrix of 0's and 1's
I have a data management problem which exceeds my meager R programming skills and would greatly appreciate suggestions on how to proceed? The data consists of a series of observation periods. Specific behaviors are recorded for each time period in the order each is observed. Their are 8 possible behaviors, coded as "i" "c" "s" "r" "v"

[LLVMdev] Disassembly arbitrary machine-code byte arrays
Hi Aiden, The 'C' based interface you could use in is llvm/include/llvm-c/Disassembler.h, which in there is: /** * Disassemble a single instruction using the disassembler context specified in * the parameter DC. The bytes of the instruction are specified in the * parameter Bytes, and contains at least BytesSize number of bytes. The * instruction is at the address specified by the

[LLVMdev] Disassembly arbitrary machine-code byte arrays
Hi Kev and James, Thanks to both of you for responding. I had looked at the otool release published for 10.7.2 (cctools-800), but it seems that it only snuck in after that and by the cctools-809 release! In any case, both that and llvm-mc should be more than adequate! A follow-up question: is the C interface to LLVM a second-class citizen or should I reasonably be able to expect to do everything

Ruby IDE with wxRuby
Hello All, There seems to have been a lot of interest in getting wxScintilla incorperated, and I think most of us who want it, want it so we can create an editor, so to avoid multiple projects comming out with the same goal (Not really that bad of a problem....), I''m going to kick start this, and ask that anyone interested in developing a Editor with wxRuby and wxScintilla, to send

Wx::TextCtrl and wxMSW
Hey Alex, Found a solution to the problem that was occuring with wxMSW and the Wx::TextCtrl, have yet to verify that this will work in linux, but my little trick to the matter, was simple, thanks to the things that are provided with both Wx::TextCtrl, and Wx::Window classes. I''m providing this bit of information for thoes who may have trouble with dealing with Wx::TextCtrl, _AND_ have

full_audit on Samba 3.0.20 vs 3.0.25
Hi List, Just a quick question for you: Does Samba 3.0.20 support the full_audit module? I've got the module operating on two boxes, one with Samba 3.0.25 and the other with 3.0.20, and only the former seems to interpret VFS directives, such as: full_audit:prefix = %u full_audit:failure = none full_audit:success = open write close On the 3.0.20 box, they seem to be ignored,

wxRuby Documentation / Textitle Docs
Hey All, Just wanted to let you guys know, that with the HTML Generated documentation from the Textile source code, does not show *''s in stuff like Wx::FileDialog. It''s interpreting this as a Bold, not as an Asterisk. Just thought you''d want to know that. L8ers, Mario Steele

0.12.4 dies with call SetTlsParms before
I upgraded from 12.2 to 12.4 and found that my happy little eventmachine processes die with: terminate called after throwing an instance of ''std::runtime_error'' what(): call SetTlsParms before calling StartTls Here''s what I believe is the relevant snippet of my code, which calls start_tls() in the connection_completed() callback: connection =

[LLVMdev] Disassembly arbitrary machine-code byte arrays
Hi Aiden, The easiest thing I can do is to point you to the source of the "llvm-mc" tool, which does exactly what you ask in its "-disassemble" mode. The code is rather small, so it should be easy to work out. tools/llvm-mc Cheers, James -----Original Message----- From: llvmdev-bounces at cs.uiuc.edu [mailto:llvmdev-bounces at cs.uiuc.edu] On Behalf Of Aidan Steele Sent:

wxRuby Socket Demo finally available
Hello All, I''ve just sent off the source code for wxRuby Socket''s demo to Sean and Alex to do some final testing on Linux and MacOS X, to ensure compatability of my design with those two operating systems. Once confirmed, the demo will be posted to the SVN. What is basically entailed within these two demos, is the implementation of a Server with a GUI Front End, and the

Partition results based on field
Hello all I''m using Ferret for a site wide search where I have several kinds of (similar) objects in a central index (using a "type" field containing the class name). This works great, and I can search all objects with one query. What I''d like to do now is to limit the results so that there will be a maximum of 10 (or 5 or whatever) results for each type.. I

Panel Data Analysis (PLM) - Fixed Effects - "cannot allocate vector of length"
Hello to all on the list, I'm trying to estimate a fixed effects model from a large (unbalanced) panel data set. I have no problems when using only an individual effect or only a time effect, but I get an error message when I try for a "twoways" effect. Here is some of the code: paneldata27 is the entire panel data set: > dim(paneldata27) [1] 1178831 8 >

wxSocket..... or wxRubySocket....
Hey Alex, I was looking into figuring out a way to create a truely Asynchronis Socket type for Ruby, and thought I''d go down to the bare minimal implementation of it, to start creating a socket, and then I got to thinking. Looking at the wxWidgets C/C++ Code, it doesn''t do much different then what I''m doing, only in Ruby, so I thought maybe, as a way to avoid

1.9.5 Release
Hey Alex and Sean, It looks like it is getting to be that time again for a new release. What are we looking at for the release time frame? I''m working still on the wxSDL type library for wxSugar, as I think this would be a great thing to create a Library for, to incorporate SDL into wxRuby. I''m already looking at creating Wx::SDLPanel, which will be the equivalent of

Tracking file activity
Hey List, I was wondering if and how one would go about tracking file activity on a Samba server, for basic auditing purposes. I'd ideally like to see what files where edited, by whom and when. I've done some RTFM and a bit of searching around the 'net, but haven't found anything yet. Even pointers to documentation on the subject would be welcome. Thanks in advance for

Does CTDB run under LXC containers?
I'm using libvirt_lxc and that has an XML based configuration. Based on what I've read, I think I need to add this to the ctdb container's config: <features> <capabilities policy='default'> <sys_nice state='on'/> </capabilities> </features> That didn't do the trick though. I need to figure out how to turn on all caps to

[LLVMdev] Disassembly arbitrary machine-code byte arrays
Hi, My apologies if this appears to be a very trivial question -- I have tried to solve this on my own and I am stuck. Any assistance that could be provided would be immensely appreciated. What is the absolute bare minimum that I need to do to disassemble an array of, say, ARM machine code bytes? Or an array of Thumb machine code bytes? For example, I might have an array of unsigned chars -- how
