3.0.25a closing network drive connections?
Since upgrading from 3.0.24 to 3.0.25a this past weekend, network
drive connections are randomly being closed and immediately reopened.
This creates "Delayed write failed" errors for Firefox and
Thunderbird, various errors for Outlook with its PST files on network
drives, and errors from programs like InDesign that "The network
connection was lost for the file, or the file was

to another country
Hi everybody. This is my first post here.
I'm new to Asterisk. I started to study recently so I
have a lot of gaps. This is my question:
I have DSL here in USA and so has my friend who lives
in another country. Is it possible using asterisk and
our analog telephone devices to establish voice
comunication between us. If that is possible what kind
of additional hardware do we need? What would

nscd crashes
I've had problems with nscd crashing every few days on my CentOS 4
mail server for a while now. The problems started maybe around CentOS
4.2, although I don't remember for sure. My debugging efforts let me
to disable nscd's persistent cache, and that seemed to work for a
while, but since upgrading to CentOS 4.4, the crashes have started
again.
When nscd crashes, the rest of the

Combating site suckers
Does anybody have any tips for combating site suckers
- of the variety that use wget and other site
downloaders; hit sites hard; ignore robots.txt; and
even set User-agent to commonly used browser strings?
I''m using Lighty and SCGI. Back with Apache, there
were various modules that could limit total bandwidth,
but I never found anything that worked well.

Yumex, yum-utils
I saw the link someone posted to SL (Scientific Linux) yumex rpm's. I
grabbed the SRPMS, changed some references from SL to CentOS in the
spec files and rebuilt the RPMS. I managed to get yumex up and
running by manually configuring yumex.conf.
What is the use of the yum-utils and the dozen or so utilities? Are
there any docs? (Bearing in mind my hack may have damaged the SL
installation)

[LLVMdev] Introduction.
Hello,
I've been reading through the documentation for llvm
and am quite interested in helping. I am an
experience c and c++ programmer but a bit rusty on the
compilers.
I'm currently reading through the ideas for projects.
It looks as through llvm may be very deep in some
optimization (IPA) but not as strong in others. Are
there some textbook passes which I could start with?
Anyway,

New logo for CentOS
To celebrate CentOS as the greatest thing since sliced bread, we
should endevour to have a new logo in place. Whilst the current one
suffices, a new logo/favicon should be in place.
My artistry skills are not good (i was eating hotdogs whilst the rest
of the class learned fine art), so those of you artistically endowed
should come up with something.

extracting p-values from lmer()
Dear R users,
I've been struggling with the following problem: I want to extract the Wald p-value
from an lmer() fit, i.e., consider
library(lme4)
n <- 120
x1 <- runif(n, -4, 4)
x2 <- sample(0:1, n, TRUE)
z <- rnorm(n)
id <- 1:n
N <- sample(20:200, n, TRUE)
y <- rbinom(n, N, plogis(0.1 + 0.2 * x1 - 0.5 * x2 + 1.5 * z))
m1 <- lmer(cbind(y, N - y) ~ x1 + x2 + (1 | id),

different logon path for different users - local profiles for a few users only - how?
I would like to have roaming profiles for one group of users (student1,
student2), and local profiles for another group of users (Joe, Mary).
Is it possible with Samba?
From what I've tested, one can use either roaming profiles with a
setting similar to the one below:
logon path = \\%L\profiles\%G\%U
Or local profiles, using the logon path empty:

definite data corruption in 2.5.0 with -z option
I just confirmed that data corruption can occasionally occur with
rsync 2.5.0 when the -z option is used. My command was the following:
rsync -vaz --partial --block-size=65536 --checksum remote:/path/ /localdir
The files consisted of a year's worth of email (262MB), broken into
one file for each day.
At least this doesn't seem to occur silently; I get the message

I am attempting to setup a Samba printserver to replace our Windows Print

I have defined a few printers in CUPS, some raw, and some not.
When I use the GUi to upload the drivers, The dialog works, however after
that is accomplished, any attempt to get the printer properties or to use
the printer from my W2K system (cpq0277) causes explorer to ABEND.

recommendations on use of -> operator
I have never used -> but I noticed at
http://github.com/jiho/r-utils/blob/master/beamer_colors.R
that some people do. In fact, the above-named code has a sort of elegance about it (except for the use of "=" for assignment...). To my eye, -> calls to mind a type of assignment that is meant to stand out. For example, perhaps it would make sense to use -> to assign
