Just curious, is anyone using Samba 4.0 alpha releases in a production environment and how is it working for you? I run an environment of about 500+ Windows XP on a Netware environment and have considerable Samba 3.0 experience, but I'd like to use GPO's to control and clean up a lot of previous tech support problems. I'm curious to know where the tdbsam password database file is kept on my Fedora 7 system. Using the unmodified smb.conf file that shipped with Fedora 7, I've enabled users using smbpasswd, and successfully accessed shares. I am intending to test FDS 7.1 for our LDAP database. We have a custom schema currently set up with OpenLDAP. I am looking for a script ton convert those schema files to the FDS LDIF format. Anyone played with or know the status of Red Hat Directory Server on CentOS 5? I had some problems getting this to work on CentOS 4.4, but am very interested in using this instead of regular OpenLDAP as it supports two way synchronization to Active Directory. Noah

I am looking at options for VPN connections from iPhones and iPod Touches to CentOS systems. We use OpenVPN for connections with Windows, Mac OS X, and other Linux systems, but there don't appear to be any OpenVPN clients for iPhones (presumably because there are no tun/tap interfaces available yet). My experiences getting IPsec running on CentOS systems with OpenVPN have not been pretty.

I must be missing something somewhere. I can't get our Samba server to show up when I look in Network Neighborhood under XP. If I type in \\servername\path, it won't find it, however if I use the IP, it works fine. Now, experience tells me that I'm having to type the IP because it's not resolving the name.
