Can we get Local Group from domain controller?
Hi, Samba Guru :)
I installed samba 2.2.3a under Redhat 7.2 for Intel platform. But when I
use 'wbinfo -g' to get group list from domain controller, I can get
global group name list only, my question is can I get the local group
name list on domain controller too? Or I have to change the source code
to do that or it is a limitation of the winbind?
Thanks in advance.

the system cannot contact a domain controller to service the authentication request
Hi all,
I've had this error come up after my samba AD DC servers are up and running
for awhile. In the most recent case, it's been months of uptime.
Symptom 1) include this message when I try to access a standalone samba
file server with guest access allowed. I can access this server from W10 by
typing in "\\<server_ip_address>\<share_name>" in the windows explorer

AW: Samba - NT ACL implemented by Unix Posix ACL via Samb a
I'm not an expert on that, but did you tried the following settings on
smb.conf for your share :
admin users = NTDOMAIN+Administrator
valid users = .....
I think this is necessary to use ACL with samba and ntdomain...

Re: smb_panic() in name_len()
Hi Andrew,
Also the problem only exists when the share is accessed by hostname (not IP
address), the hostname is something like 'smb-share'.
Thanks in advance,

XP error code 1326 on share (but smbclient works)
Hi all,
I am new to this list and I am not an expert, so please be patient
with me :-)
I am trying to make a samba share working, between a samba standalone
server v.4.5.10 (Fedora 25) and a winXP SP3 client.
The share should be writable by an authenticated user.
The share used to work fine in the past, but upgrading to 4.5.10
(presumably from 4.4.14, on Fedora 24) broke something.

publication statistics from Web of Science
Dear list,
This is a bit of an off-topic question, but I'm hoping to get some
advice from more experienced people. I've used the website "Web of
Science" to manually collect publication counts responding to several
keywords as a function of date, since the 1960s.

the files when you attempt to rename it. This is caused by Window's Media
Player loading the file when you click on it.
To work around this I had to go into Windows Explorer and change the folder
options from "Enable Web Contents in Folders" to "Use Windows Classic
Folders". This way, Windows Media player won't load the file when you click
on it.

Perhaps one of you could lend us a hand with this...
We are trying to setup an open access print server using RedHat 7.3 and

NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED listing \* on Samba AD - out of the blue
I have a Samba AD running Samba 4.7.5. Everything was working fine,
when, seemingly out of the blue, the users started to be denied access
to all shares. If I try from a Windows 7 or Windows 10 machine, logged
in as a user in "Domain Uses", I get:
"Windows cannot access \\server-name\share_name. You do not have
permission to access \\server-name\share_name"

Samba 4 As PDC Not Populated In Windows Network
Dear Sirs,
I have been given your e-mail address by Jeremy Allison. I would like to submit the following issue I have. You should also know I have been searching Internet for articles before and found that the behavior I wish you to help me with is quite common. The issue is the Samba 4 server integration into a Microsoft Windows network. I have done this and that configuration as particular

Help - Mounting a Windows computer with two IP addresses
Hi all,
I need to mount a Windows share locally on my laptop. However, I cannot
do this via
sudo mount -t smbfs //host_name/share_name /local_mount
because the host_name has two IP addresses with it as shown by nmblookup
//host_name.
(That is, I try mounting and I'm given this error:
mount error(115): Operation now in progress
Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs)

Authentication via both domain controller and local Sambapassword file
Try setting auth methods = sam winbind. IIRC when in domain
authentication auth methods does not include users in the local sam, but
my knowledge could be based upon an older version of samba, so you'll
have to try it out.
