file mode creation at a directory level
Hello -- I am creating a share directory on a samba server for a group of users. I would like to make sure: 1. Only the members in that group can create files and subfolders on that directory 2. Other people cannot have any access to the files/subfolers. 3. The members can have full access to files/directories other members create. The above requirements seem simple,

migrate existing Unix password to sambapassword
Hello -- Our existing Unix system has more than 500 users. The system currently uses OpenLDAP to authenticate users. We just added dozens of PCs running Windows to the network. We are going to set up the existing Unix server as a samba PDC server such that the users can log onto either their Unix account or Windows account. It seems a good idea to allow the users have the same password for

VLAN issue
Hi -- The environment we have is as follows, Domain controller: samba 3.0.14a running Solaris 9/X86 Authentication: openldap 2.2.14 Clients: Windows XP with SP2 The issue I met: If both clients and Samba server are on the same physical switch (also same subnet), the clients can join the domain and users can log into their domain accounts without any problem. However, if the clients

Can this work?
I would like to develop a system where by I can boot any of the machines on my system - and select from a menu what I would like that particular client to do. For example, maybe load a bootdisk image from a network share, and boot that. Or boot the first partition on the local disk.

Creating a large pre-allocated qemu-img raw image takes too long and fails on fuse
Thanks for the work on gluster. We have a situation where we need a very large virtual machine image. We use a simple raw image but it can be up to 40T in size in some cases. For this experiment we?ll call it 24T. When creating the image on fuse with qemu-img, using falloc preallocation, the qemu-img create fails and a fuse error results. This happens after around 3 hours. I created a simple C

How to divide too long labels?
Is there any possibility to divide too long text in a plot to two or more lines, when using labels-parameter in the text()-command? Here is an example picture: http://users.utu.fi/attenka/253.jpeg My example script is something like this: text(1,0.7,labels=Chordnames[fnid(pcs%%12)]) # according to Larry Solomon's table http://solomonsmusic.net/pcsets.htm Chordnames is a long vector with

Patch: FC4 spec file
The patch below modifies the spec file for FC4 RPM builds as follows: 1.) Build binaries using the -lmcheck option; various samba commands and smbd process crash badly without; see, for example: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=164353 2.) The Fedora project's samba RPMS install mount.cifs; it would help to have samba.org's RPMS do the same. It would be nice to

serialize() takes too long when serializing to a raw vector
Hello, R version 2.4.1 (2006-12-18) i386-pc-mingw32 Calling serialize() with a NULL connection serializes it to a raw vector. However, when the object to be serialized is large, it takes a very long time: > system.time( serialize(matrix(0, 1000, 1000), NULL) ) [1] 38.25 40.73 81.54 NA NA > system.time( serialize(matrix(0, 2000, 2000), NULL) ) [1] 609.72 664.75 1318.57 NA

IAX voice distortion with full upload channel / SIP ok
Hi, this is the scenario: One * is placed in a central location with more than enough up/down bandwidth. One * is placed behind a DSL 3000/384. Both * are linked via IAX trunking. Everything is fine until the upload channel of the remote site is filled with a download, then heavy voice distortion starts. Well of course this is expected. So I fooled around with HFSC QoS scheduling on the remote

TDM400P takes too long to ring
Hey all, I have a setup with two analog lines coming into and Asterisk 13 box with a TDM400P and it takes a lot of rings before asterisk takes over. I've traced this same box on two different analog providers so it probably isn't a problem with them. I DO have callerid enabled and not sure I can turn it off (if they will let me). Any other ideas of making it ring through faster? By the

pxelinux takes too long trying all the config file options
Hi All, I have a situation where I want to netboot and ONLY use pxelinux.cfg/default. It seems to take FOREVER for pxelinux to try all of the config file file options before falling through to default .... trying each possible combination multiple times ... increasing the wait time everytime it doesn't get a response. >From my log: Apr 2 19:53:17 helium tftpd[3372124]: tftpd: trying to

[LLVMdev] creating SCEV taking too long
Thank you very much for your reply. Do you mean calculate the hash based on element SCEV pointers? But according to the comments before GroupByComplexity(): /// Note that we go take special precautions to ensure that we get deterministic /// results from this routine. In other words, we don't want the results of /// this to depend on where the addresses of various SCEV objects happened to

MP3 Tags in icecast?
Hello! Maybe this question has been asked many times before, but searching the archives of the last 2 years I did not find an answer. I have installed icecast2 and darkice on a PC running on Ubuntu 12.04. Streaming works fine on both other PCs, players and even Squeezebox Radio. There is only one problem: the players do not show the MP3-Tags of the songs played. Is this a property of the
