Creating Custom System Policy Templates
Has anyone looked into creating custom templates for Microsoft's System
Policy editor ? I like the idea of managing workstations through the
NTConfig.POL file, but the included templates are quite a bit outdated.
Does anyone know if it would be worth-while to take the time and create an
updated Template to add policies to manage newer features of Windows
2000/XP through the NTConfig.POL

Windows update
Hi!
How do you guys solve windows security updates? Is there a way to force windows
computers to be updated. Even more flexible is if one can update windows through
login script.

few idea about dealing with "Large Roaming Profiles"
Well,
I put it here. All the experience gained in about-half-an-year-management
of Samba-PDC + numerous NT4 workstations is included. Also, I'd be glad to
hear from you what did I miss!
1) when NT4-workstations are organised into "domain", there's some
action assosiated to this: "to log into domain".
samba ain such case acts as PDC (primary domain controller),

Syncronizing two IMAP servers
I spend time in two places, in different countries.
I have a local network in each place,
with IMAP servers on each network.
I collect email by fetchmail from various servers,
and read email on my laptop with KMail.
I tried using just one IMAP server, but this proved impractical.
So I have two collections of the same sub-folders, on the two servers.
I have two questions:
1. Is there a simpler

Rsync and windows
Hi there,
I have a problem syncronizing a windows machine with a linux box.
I want to backup the "My Documents" folder. Therefore I burned the data
on a cdrom because the windows pc is only connected over a slow wan
connection to the linux box. When I copy the data to the users home
directory (using samba and another windows pc) and run the rsync program
all the files are copied once

rsync is slowing down
The cause is, of course, that the tree being syncronized ie getting larger,
so of course rsync is slowing down. But in the case of my particular file
tree, there is a way it could be speeded up, but this would obviously also
need a change in the rsync protocol to accomplish it. Any tree that has
major unchanged subbranches would benefit from this.
The file tree I'm syncronizing in this case

crypting remote data
I don't know if this is the propper place to ask for new funcionality, but
after searching the website i didn't find another place to do it.
I'm very sorry if I`m asking this in the wrong place.
It would be greatful to have crypting funcionality added to rsync, appart
from using ssh to crypt transmissions.
I know this is not the original purpose for rsync, but anyway it's a fact

synchronizing part of a file
Hi all,
I would like to synchronize a part of the source file with a part of the
destination file. In detail I would like to
- synchronize a file on a remote host from line "n" onwards with the
file content on the local host starting with line "n" in the file.
- the firs "n" lines of the files on the local and remote host should
not be changed.
My questions

Buggy trellis.focus() with xyplot ?
Hi:
(Tried to find a bug report about this issue, but was unable to find it, let
me know if this is a known issue)
I have been working on an interface to highlight xyplot panels on mouse

trellis.focus.
I am using R 2.8 with lattice 0.17-15

Using RSYNC for Multiple Servers
Hi all,
Am wanting to backup three servers to a AIT tape device that is connected to
a SCO 5.0.5 server.
Apart from itself, there is one other SCO 5.0.5 system and a Slackware Linux
server.
Is it possible to use RSYNC to backup all three servers from the primary SCO
server to the tape device ?
I wish to append to the tape device also for incremental backups.
Any other suggestions appreciated.

Forestplot () box size question
Hi All,
I have been able to modify the x-axis to start at zero by adding xlow
and xhigh parameters; that was pretty simple. I have been unable to
find the location of the code that would turn off the information
weighting of the box size (I have smaller randomized trials getting
less weight than a much larger non-randomized trial). The function
is forestplot() from rmeta.
Thanks for any

Can I merge Korean translation version to Info/docrails without any permission?
Hello everyone,
Because I don''t know communication channel to lifo/docrails, I ask about
permissions for that repository.
Recently I and friends started to translate rails guide for Korean version.
Maybe, I expect to finish all current rails guides translating in 2 months,
and then we''ll care
these documents for recent version.
Now, we provide a translation result site for

Multiple source synchronizing to one unique destination
Hello,
I am wondering if there's a Rsync guru, that can just simply tell me if the
following thing is feasible with rsync 2.5.6.
I have 2 rsync source servers configured as daemon....and I would like both
of them to synchronize to a unique destination.
Fact is that when I do a synchronization one after another, both source ar
populated on the destination area (provided that the --delete

syncronizing file content into device content
I have repeatable cases where a (very large) file contents are the
intended content of a device (partition) of that exact size. The
target device is already mostly of that content, but a few block
have been changed. I want to restore the device contents back to
what the file originally was. I'm trying to find a way to have
rsync's write end open the device as a file and do its thing to
