pppd/smbclient question
I have been trying to edit ip-up and ip-down so that when the link goes up or down it sends a message to my windows machine for winpopup. I edited the last line of ip-down to look like this: echo "The link is down" | smbclient -M mymachine when I invoke ip-down by hand, it works fine. when I kill the power to the modem, I get no message. I logged the output of the command, and it

pppd and radius
I've been googling, but after getting nowhere for a while I thought I'd ask for a direction to head in. I am replacing a RH7.1 box that was performing dial-in service using a pppd patched for radius support. I'd prefer not to do things this way and would like to use a more easily updated configuration. What I need it to do is do auth against a radius server and support windows

pppd dial-in over asterisk
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I'm sure most people are aware of the ability of pppd to answer calls coming in from a standard serial modem (or at least that is the way I understand it to work), authenticate the user and issue it an IP address. With the proper ip forwarding/masquerading techniques, this can serve as a fully functional ISP of sorts. It also offers a nice method

PPPD & Winbind authentication
Hi All, I've got Andrew's winbind auth patch working in pppd on our pptp server, which at means no-more perl scripts to syncronise LM/NT hashes from openldap to the pptp server :-) I am however finding that usernames 4 characers long are having their username truncated to 3, when passed to winbind, and are subsequently failing. Has anyone else noticed this yet, or is it just me? :-)

I'm using Samba 3.0.22, PPP 2.4.3, Kerberos 1.3.6, with Trustix 2.2 What works : - krb5kinit (and krb5klist -e) - net ads join - wbinfo -u, wbinfo -g, wbinfo -a user%pwd, wbinfo -p, wbinfo -t and wbinfo -m - getent passwd and

Regression of 5616?
I'm wondering if I'm seeing a regression of 5616 with 3.4.8. I'm trying to set-up pptpd with winbind, which I'm doing on two machines on Debian lenny, and I'm trying on Debian Squeeze now. The Windows client is saying "Error 778: It was not possible to verify the identity of the server." The logs say that everything is ok, and that the client is hanging up the

tinc Digest, Vol 109, Issue 7
Thanks for replying so quickly Guus. I will try increasing the re-keying time to 86400, and am now running the servers in debug 5 mode logging to a file, so will get all output. Its interesting what you say about UDP being given lower priority, the two end points of this VPN are actually within the same data center, but are being routed within the DC's core routers (because its going

Intermittent TCP connect issues when using tinc 1.0.23 and IPv6
Hi, I am using tinc 1.0.23 in router mode and am having trouble with intermittent TCP connect timeouts that do not occur when routing the TCP over the internet directly. I am using a pure IPv6 setup (i.e direct IPv6 connections, and tunneled IPv6 subnets). My configs are as follows: Site 1: ----------------------- tinc.conf: Name = rsukmhb AddressFamily = ipv6 BindToAddress =

how to use ntlm_auth
Hi, I want to know how to use ntlm_auth with ntlm-server-1 and freeradius, with the users login and password information in ldap. I have read documentation of ntlm_auth (only found the man page), docs and howtos about pptp and squid, i don't found about freeradius, and i'm experimenting with the options of ntlm_auth. I have configured freeradius+ldap+802.1X for a wireless lan, but i

PPPD problem please help
After a big help from Peter Svensson, I got ISDN Data-calls up and running. But now when everything seems connected, pppd has been authorized by other peer and even got an IP address, the whole connection seems to stop working. Very unregulary, the PPPD's EchoReq's stop being answered, and of course all TCP/IP-traffic as well. It takes between 0-2 minutes till the connection breaks.
