Multiple Nics / Multiple Workgroups
Can someone send me some example configs etc for a 3 nic card , 3 workgroup setup (ie : 192.168.10.x is workgroup sso, 192.168.32.x is nscc , 192.168.64.x is crc) I want each to be basically separate from the next (when used this way does it even pay attention to the workgroup = in the global of each conf file?) so far I have a smb.conf / smb.conf.nscc / smb.conf.sso

Samba AD with internal DNS: Can't resolve aliases anymore
Hi, I've setup a Samba 4 based AD server a while ago and everything was working fine for some time. However, since a few days it seems it doesn't resolve aliases anymore. I can query them using the host command, but a simple ping then fails to resolve the name: % host alias1 alias1.altum.de is an alias for server1. % ping alias1

static wins entries for failover shares -- do Microsoft clients get confused?
On my RedHat Cluster I am trying to configure samba shares that can be relocated or fail over from one node to anoter. This is done by: 1. mounting the corresponding file system on the node from SAN 2. having the cluster assign the corresponding virtual ip number to that node 3. I tried to run an aditional instance of samba for that share ( See posting: "security = domain -- samba adds its

SAMBA replies SAM LOGON request from different ip alias
Hi all, we have got 4 Samba Servers. All BDCs for "MYDOMAIN", except by SERVER3 that is a PDC. All of them have 3 physical Network interfaces, from which 2 are used by samba. Each of them has a several ip aliases, except by SERVER1 which has only primary ip numbers on its interfaces. When I try to join a new Windows client (XP SP3) to the domain. It asks our wins server for

Multiple samba servers, 1 smb.conf.include file
Hi Everyone -- Currently we are running two samba servers, server1 and server2 for example, which are each using the same smb.conf.editme as an include file to the server's smb.conf file for it's shares. In other words if you go to \\server1\my-share or \\server2\my-share, it would be the identical share. One quite large problem that we are running into is that although each server

postmaster alias
I have dovecot configured to use an LDAP database for mail delivery with dovecot-lda. All of of my user accounts and aliases work fine except for postmaster@ which consistantly bounces. I have compared the entry for postmaster with another working alias and see no difference. When I send mail to postmaster I get the following in the logs: Jun 11 02:11:13 server1 postfix/pipe[12083]: 6D6CF33444:

Redundant DFS via DNS entries?
Hi: I'm trying to create a group of samba/NFS servers. The NIS/NFS/Automount part has always worked fine. Now I'm trying to duplicate what automount does w/ DFS. A single DFS server would be a single point of failure. I need redundant DFS. I've configured a pair of samba servers, w/ DFS on each one. Each machine has a few non-dfs shares referred to by dfs links. I've

static wins entries -- entries change after restart of corresponding Samba server
I am trying to use static wins entries, as stated in the Official Samba Howto Collection. One Samba server (VServer) is with wins service enabled. Another (Server1) is not, but it has the wins server in its smb.conf. When I set wins.dat at VServer: "SERVER1#00" 0 192.168.6.231 192.168.1.231 66R "SERVER1#03" 0 192.168.6.231 192.168.1.231 66R "SERVER1#20" 0

DNS update - NT_STATUS_IO_TIMEOUT every 10 minutes
I have an unusual problem that I can't seem to figure out. As a background I had to rebuild my Samba4 AD DC from scratch, since my USB stick went out. The Samba4 AD DC is now running on a Raspberry Pi with the root file system on an external USB hard drive. It also has an email server using postfix/dovecot/spamassassin on it too. It's very cool to have an AD DC and email server

Internal DNS and Replication
I'm trying to join a Linux server running Samba 4.0.4 as a DC to an existing AD domain. The current DC (server1) is running Server 2008 not R2. The Samba server (server2) is using internal DNS. I'm following "Samba4/HOWTO/Join a domain as a DC" from the wiki. The join seems to work, but I'm having problems with DNS replication. During the join many DNS records for

Could it be that windows 7 first

SSO across multiple physical subnets
Hi, I?ve been reading up on SSO-based logins for the last couple of weeks. I?ve found a lot of information about it, but nothing that matches my situation. Here?s the gist of my situation... - I have a Samba 3 PDC in our corporate office as well as three remote offices. - Each remote office is in a different physical building and connected to the Corporate office either via Point-to-Point T-1

Syncing to multiple servers
Helle everyone, Let's say we have 3 servers, 2 of them have the latest (stable) version of rsyncd running (2.6.9) <Server1> ==> I N T E R N E T ==> <Server2 (rsyncd running)> ==> LAN ==> <Server3 (rsyncd running)> Suppose I want to send a big file (bigfile.big) from Server1 to both Server2 and Server3. It would be a good idea to send first from Server1

Multiple Controllers to auth against
Hello, I am currently using samba along side of squid to do ntlm authentication. I have a primary, and secondary NT4.0 controllers, and have listed in smb.conf as such: password server: server1 server2 I expected that when server1 went down, server2 would be queried next. This was not the case for me. I actually had server1 go down, and samba continued to attempt and fail against server1.
