security = server, username map, different domain -> no login
Hi,
I posted a similar question a few days before. I'm still confused what
might be wrong with my config.
Setup:
- update from Samaba 2.2.12 to 3.0.10
- Solaris 8 Server
- server is not a domain (EMEA) member, and it's not possible to add the
server to the EMEA domain :(- server is only in workgroup ERS (our department, no DC, only a few hosts).
- no winbind
- authentification happens

Dragonfly and Zip uploads
I''m poring through the Dragonfly source code right now, trying to get a handle on how to apply the following technique there:
Client uploads a Zip archive containing N images, PDF files, text files, etc. When that file arrives at the server, but before it is stored as an attachment to the current object, the Zip is burst open, contents are iterated over, and each contained file is saved

Simple File I/O benchmark tool for NT clients
Hi,
I need a simple tool for benchmarking my NT client against my Ubuntu Samba server.
I get 20MB/s during a file copy but I think my limit is the client's hard disk.
Dose anyone know a simple exe tool which simulate file I/O agains the Samba server.
I like to avoid using my lokal disk during the test.
Have looked around but can't find a simpe tool which dose the job without the

/proc/xen/memory_target patch
This patch to the balloon driver eliminates the need for a user-space
program to slosh memory between domains and xen. This uses a proc
file at /proc/xen/memory_target. When read it reports memory the domain
owns in bytes. Writing a new value to the memory_target proc file
will cause the domain to exchange memory with xen to reach the target.
A xenolinux domain cannot grow bigger than it was

Prebinding for DragonFly/FreeBSD-4
I created patch for DragonFly/FreeBSD-4 for prebinding, based on
mdodd@'s patch for FreeBSD-5.
The main difference (apart from the target platform) is that the linker
needn't be patched. Rtld now uses a hash function to get an unique ID
for every ELF object.
This has been tested under DragonFly, but should run on FreeBSD-4 too.
Feedback appreciated :)
cheers

wine-0.9.15 & winetools problems.
Hello,
I built wine-0.9.15 today. It installs and works to a small extent
that I tested it. I then attempted to install and run winetools and
had some problems. If anyone sees what I'm doing wrong please let me
know. Thanks.
1) Install wine
2) Run 'wine notepad' to create initial .wine directory. Notepad opens.
mark@dragonfly ~ $ wine notepad

Vulnerability in vixie cron?
Hi,
Recently there have been advisories and patches for
SuSE and RedHat (and probably a few others) regarding
a vulnerability in Vixie Cron. The details say that
there's insufficient checking of the return value of
setuid, which can lead to priviledge escalation and
lets users run cron jobs with root priviledges.
As far as I know, FreBSD also uses Vixie Cron (at least
the cron(8) manpage

"installation method" (CentOS 5.2)
I'm trying to install CentOS 5.2 on a Dell PE 1850 via the DRAC 4
card, with CentOS-5.2-i386-bin-1of6.iso mounted as virtual media. At
the boot prompt, I hit <Enter>, which should start the graphical
installation, but it starts off with a text installation. I am asked
- whether I want to test the media, which I skip
- what language I want to use - I select English
- what keyboard I

participation.
It is the intent of this project to take over development of the 4.x tree,

Hi
We are experiencing a problem with one of our FreBSD 6.2 machines. The
machine has been running fine for months until we had to reboot it. Now
it doesn't boot anymore. After the boot loader we get what looks like a
register dump:

Limit users storing BIG files
Hi All,
I am using Samaba for my network users and I run out of space soon as so
many users store BIG files on the share folders.
Is there a way to specify the max size for a file that can be stored using
Samaba?
Or At least max size for a folder will also help.
