hi list, We got the following problem: We try to use samba 2.2.5 as a printserver for windoze clients (samba 2.2.5 on RH linux 8 w/ CUPS 1.1.15). CUPS works w/o any problems, but when we try to generate the drivers for the windoze clients (by using cupsaddsmb), we get the following error: >> cli_pipe: return critical error. lp_servicenumber: couldn't find printers
Hi: I first installed samba (Version 2.0.7) on an AIX 4.3 system about 3 years ago. Yesterday the original system crashed, and I am now trying to get it going on another AIX system. To the best of my knowledege smb.conf, along with all the samba binaries have not changed, i.e. they are from the backup of the crashed system. On the new system, when the smbd and nmbd daemons are started, they

Intermittent failures mapping drives.. need debugging help/sugges tions
There is a problem with a user mapping a network drive. Sometimes he can map it, sometimes he can't. SAMBA: 3.0-alpha18 UNIX: HP-UX 11.0 rsc is a valid account on the machine he's trying to connect to (entry in /etc/passwd, decent permissions on home directory and all parent directories, etc.) The strange thing is sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. net getlocalsid problem
Hi I decided after some testing and experimenting, to move the production servers from 2.2.x to 3.0. so I've installed samba3.0 in paralel with the old binaries. To start the migration I wanted to save the old domain SID, to can make the migration as transparent as possible, so I did: net3 -d 10 -I 127.0.0.1 getlocalsid while the old binaries are still runing all that I've got

ADS Join problem samba3.0.14a kerberos 1.3.5
Hi List, I'm getting an error join an ADS Domain, using samba 3.0.14a & kerberos 1.3.5. When I look at the debug output from the join attempt, it almost seems as though The join is looking for an OU or something from the AD that doesn't exist. I'm not an Windows person and the AD admins are not around to help peep this out. Can anyone take a look at the debug output below and

re. Initial Samba Setup
On a recommendation from this list I checked the junklog file, the output from which I attached below. It looks as if it does not even see the linux machine as it indicates not seeing "explorer" which is the local netbios name. The Win XP machine does not even show in the log. Here is the last entry for nmbd.log: ***** [2003/11/21 06:24:58, 0] nmbd/nmbd.c:terminate(54) Got SIGTERM:

winbind on Solaris 2.5.1 not working.
Ok folks, Here is the deal. I have posted to the news groups several times and gotten not a single thing. I have been trying since march to get 2.2.8a working on sol2.5.1 with winbind to do the authentication but it has failed miserably. Winbindd starts but fails to create the /tmp/.winbindd/pipe file and bombs like a daisycutter. But if I run winbindd like this " truss -aefo /tmp/file

Samba 2.0.7 on BSD/OS 4.2
Alright, I give up. I'm going to go out in the parking lot and scream. Over the years I have built many, many versions of Samba on many versions of BSD[386,OS] and other unixen. I have never, ever had trouble like this (except, of course, with Irix). Never with a BSD. 4.2 ships with Samba 2.0.6 (why? -- 2.0.7 was released last April). I've been running 2.0.7 on a DEC Alpha running OSF
