Missing Directory Entries (SMBFS)
SuSE 9.0 Pro - Kernel 2.4.21 - Samba 2.2.8a and 3.0.1-14 Here's my problem: On a box runninng XP, I have a shared folder which contains 130+ subdirectories. This share is mounted on my linux box from '/etc/smbfstab', but some directories do not show up in directory listings. It's never more than one, and which one varies, but generally seems to be in or near the last half of the

Can not list shares more than 12 characters long
While listing shares with command like: smbclient -L 192.168.0.4 -N , shares with length of name more than 12 (that ability appeared in Win2000) are just not listed. But if know their names, I can mount them (using mount_smbfs). How can I see these shares while listing?

samba, RedHat and Windows XP Home
Howdy. I'm running samba-3.0.2-2 (from the binaries on samba.org) on a RedHat 9 box with kernel 2.4.20-28.9. I can access shares from my Windows XP Home box, but the performance isn't very good. When I looked into this, I discovered that apparently the connections are getting dropped, over and over again, which causes a lot more work, I'm sure. Here's a snippet from my main

Hi, I have a strange problem listing a share with, e.g. # ls -al /path/to/share I have a samba-client-3.5.4-68.el6_0.2.x86_64 on a Scientific Linux 6 (as a virtual machine - if it matters) and an samba-3.0.33-0.30.el4 server on a RHEL4. winxp client - directory listing fails
Hello All, I'm having problems accessing getting a directory listing from samba(3.0.23d) with win xp clients. I can mount a share from win xp, create a directory, create a file, edit the file, etc. But listing the directory contents is fickle. If its a very small directory things appear to work fine. But a directory with around 30 files seems to hang and eventually returns "File Not

Error when Synchronising
I'm trying ot get Windows 2K off line folders to work but it fails when writing a file back to the Samba share reporting that access is denied on the share. But I can copy and replace the file manually without a proplem. Running Samba 2.2.7-security-rollup-fix on Redhat 8 (upto date) Samba Logfile for Machine account is below. Any ideas? Fw: Missing files on Windows client side
Jeremy, I think we found the part of source where the problem resides: smbd/trans2.c +1444 for (i=0;(i<maxentries) && !finished && !out_of_space;i++) { +1445 BOOL got_exact_match = False; +1446 +1447 /* this is a heuristic to avoid seeking the dirptr except when +1448 absolutely necessary. Constant error messages about failure to remove oplock
Hi Volker, Thanks for your reply. When the problem was happening(before we turned off level2-oplocks), we had captured one run with smbd debug all:10 (unfortunately we didn’t setup for other modules like vfs etc). Can you please see if this below trace helps? Thanks. [2015/06/25 03:05:30.408432, 3, pid=1581, effective(2030299, 2000514), real(2030299, 0)]

Failure to update roaming profile on Samba domain
I have been having an odd problem for some time now and have tried many things to get rid of it, but it has been awhile since I worked on it so I'm starting new on this hoping to finally find a solution. The problem is: Certain users will always get two errors while logging out. All users have roaming profiles, but the problem seems to only show up if users have files on their desktop. Not

Poor performance getting lots of small files with WinXP/Win2k vs OS2
Hi, We're doing some of performance tests with Linux Samba v3. We're comparing WinXP/Win2k clients vs OS2 clients accessing a samba server. For one test, we're coping 10.000 small files. Let's say, we run the command copy \\sambaserver\10000files\*.* c:\data\10000files With an OS2 client it takes 23 seconds to complete. With an Windows client it takes 460 seconds to complete.

BUG: samba-3.0.14a & samba-3.0.20pre2 endless loop AIX 5.3 (jfs2) & Win98
Hi, I have replaced an older AIX system with a new one running AIX 5.3, all the latest patches. It is acting as a PDC (I think irrelevant). The old server was running AIX 4.3.2 with Samba 3.0.14a (upgraded from 2.0.7) , and was working 100% fine. I had the old server running 3.0.14a for 6 weeks prior to the upgrade as part of my migration plan. There are Windows 98 boxes that connect to

VFS plug-in for Gluster breaks case sensitivity.
Hello, I first posted this question to the IRC but it was suggested I also post here for better visibility. I am currently having a bit of trouble with Gluster, Samba, and the VFS plug-in between them. I am also posting this to the Gluster mailing list. The behavior I am seeing is that by using the samba-vfs-gluster plug-in the case sensitivity setting for Samba breaks in a subtle but noticeable
