RE: samba smbd version 2.2.12 HP CIFS Server A.01.11.04 does hang if start in a HP serviceguard configuration
Hi Wolfgang, from your tusc trace, what's happening is that smbd is hanging on a lock call on the secrets.tdb. Chances are good that either rpc.lockd is not running, or out of sync, etc; I can force this to happen, pretty much the exact same trace, by killing my lockd daemon on the system where I am running samba before I try to start it up. locking problems over nfs is one good reason that

Samba performance question
Hi all, I am running a samba server (2.0.3) in a small eth-based home network. There is only one win client (NT workstation, Sp4). The samba box ist set up with wins support enabled and the NT box? wins server entry points to samba server. Everything works fine: no error messages neither server nor client. The server shows up immediately in the NT?s network neigborhood. Browsing is fast. !!But

SSH key exchange algorithm negotiation payload growth
Howdy- TL;DR An SSH daemon for a memory-constrained embedded platform didn't work with a recent OpenSSH client because it couldn't handle the payload size during key exchange. In general, what should SSH implementors in such limited environments do to ensure forwards compatibility with future OpenSSH releases? I am unable to SSH to any of my HP servers' iLO2 interfaces using

HP R3000 XR (BCMXCP) serial connection problem: e7!!! and e2!!!
UPS: HP R3000 XR with HP UPS Management Module What I Want: I just want the UPS to shut down the client called "tor" before the UPS power drains out, I'd prefer to use a direct serial cable instead of network, in case the network doesn't work. I'll manage the UPS trough the ethernet using the built-in HTTP webinterface in the HP UPS Management Module. I've created a

Failure to connect to mpSSH Server
Hello everybody, i found a problem when using OpenSSH (5.0 & 4.8 running on OpenBSD 4.3) to connect to the management processor of a HP Superdome. These MPs are running an ssh-server anouncing itself as "SSH-2.0-mpSSH_0.1.0". The problem is that you get the following error when connecting: "Disconnecting: Bad packet length 218777966." It looks like this mpSSH is based

Determining Local IP Address within .profile
Hi ! I haven't found an easy solution to determine the local IP to which the remote SSH client is connected to the local SSHD. We use MC/Serviceguard which can create many Interfaces where a remote client could connect and we like to know within .profile which interface the client has connected to. I've looked at the sourcecode and maybe the following could do something I described :

about ulimit -n 1M
Hi, I noticed that the glusterfs client tries to set ulimit -n to 1M. When I run booster with non-privileged user, the following line appears several times in the log file: [2009-09-14 09:15:22] W [client-protocol.c:6010:init] brick-0-0-0: WARNING: Failed to set 'ulimit -n 1M': Operation not permitted When I run it with root, there's no such complaint even though

Two smbd's on same machine
Hi, I am planning to run Samba smbd within an HP MC/ServiceGuard cluster (2 machines, 2 packages). Essentially, this could involve (whilst it's not the usual scenario), having two smbd's running on the same machine, albeit listening on seperate IP addresses. They should not need to access any of the same directories. Is this a problem? Has anyone else on this list used smbd within

Win2K box and the file server are on the same switch. They are both configured as 100FD, AutoNeg=Off. I have not met anyone so far with that much performance difference, though some reported 1:2 speed ratio. Attached is our config file for your information. I've searched through this mail lists' archives. I couldn't find a solution, though I've seen people reporting similar

Oracle 9.2.0.6 on Solaris 10
How can I tell if this is normal behaviour? Oracle imports are horribly slow, an order of magnitude slower than on the same hardware with a slower disk array and Solaris 9. What I can look for to see where the problem lies? The server is 99% idle right now, with one database running. Each sample is about 5 seconds. I''ve tried setting kernel parameters despite the docs saying that

openssh2.3.0p1 and /etc/limits
Hi! I wrote a small patch to enable /etc/limits support in openssh. nice thing when you don't have PAM installed.. It is based on Ultor's openssh 1.x patch (http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=secure-shell&m=96427677022741&w=2) Works fine on slackware7.1. define USE_ETC_LIMITS in config.h , and compile as usual. rlimit sandbox on cygwin
Hi all. I have an old windows VM with an oldish cygwin that I use for the regression tests. Investigating one of the test failures, I see that it's for UsePrivilegeSeparation=sandbox, and it seems to be because setrlimit(RLIMIT_FSIZE, ...) is not supported. IMO, this isn't a big loss, since the most useful thing in the rlimit "sandbox" is the descriptor limits. Can anyone see
