HTB qdisc within HTB root qdisc
Hello...
Im trying to setup HTB to allow me to shape traffic from two upstreams
that meets on single lan0 interface. I prefer to use HTB qdisc
within HTB root qdisc for cleaner rules design.
Seems that it doesnt work at all. tc -s class show doesnt
show any traffic on other classes attached to HTB qdisc.
Linux 2.6.20.7
iproute-2.6.20-070313
Weird thing is that tc -s class show that 1: and 2:

weird fail with conversion to bridges?
I''m converting my network from a "one interface per segment" to a
"single connection with vlans", well, some hardware I have requires
using different vlan IDs. suffice it to say I need bridges to connect a
few different vlans that should all be one but can''t be because of
firmware constraints. so my first step is to get shorewall to know
about bridges.

Codecs and more analog lines?
Hi!
Are the GIPS codecs now implemented with the Asterisk?
If I need more analog lines, say around 30, what's the
easiest way doing it? I checked the Mediatrix box with
24 connections, maybe that would be a good (and rel. cheap)
way to go? Any other suggestions? The ports has to
support fax machines.

How to extract partial predictions, package mgcv
Dear package mgcv users,
I am using package mgcv to describe presence of a migratory bird species as
a function of several variables, including year, day number (i.e.
day-of-the-year), duration of survey, latitude and longitude. Thus, the
"global model" is:
global_model<-gam(present ~ as.factor(year) + s(dayno, k=5) + s(duration,
k=5) + s(x, k=5) + s(y, k=5), family =

bridge or vlan
Hello to everyone,
Here is the situation:
[LAN1]---[eth3]/----------\
| LinuxBR |[eth2]---[LAN0]---[linuxGW]---[internet]
[LAN2]---[eth4]\----------/
Whole LAN is in subnet 10.0.0.0/24.
So I need:
LAN0, LAN1, LAN2 could not see each other.
LAN0, LAN1, LAN2 is in same subnet (10.0.0.0/24).
All LANs have to get only internet.
How can I configure LinuxBR to do so?

Placing SIP calls to other SIP domains?
Hi!
Does * do DNS-lookups when outgoing calls are placed to a different
SIP domain? Can I call from <sip:1000@mydomain.com> to <sip:2000@remote_domain.com>?
Can * work as a regular SIP proxy in that aspect?
Can * handle SIP URI:s that are complete SIP URI:s (sip:user@domain) instead
of numbers only? Or should I run a SIP proxy on a different machine to handle
pure SIP requests and let

Problem with masquerading and bridges
Hello all,
I''m somewhat new to networking, and I''m having trouble masquerading
connections that are coming over a bridge. The bridge only has a
single port for now, but I''m going to add more ports later. I''m basing
my configuration on the two-interface quick start guide. I''m using
Shorewall 3.0.4 on Ubuntu Dapper.
My network looks like this:

Asterisk and SIP Proxy on same machine?
Hi
Is it possible (or recommended) to run both Asterisk and
say SER on the same physical machine? How about port conflicts?
Maybe the easiest way is to change the default SIP port on Asterisk?
But how will that work if I register some SIP accounts directly
from asterisk (like my SIP provider) but then wanna dial outbound
pure SIP calls via my SER... Has anyone got a functional system like

Samba4 and 0.0.0.0:137 and 0.0.0.0:138 opened, why ? How do close it ?
Thanks for this answer.
As I understood, for example if parameter
bind interfaces only = yes is and
interfaces = lan0 (192.168.0.254) is
and if broadcast packet goes from 95.95.95.14 such packet will be dropped
(in other words) ?
Am I right ?
And other thing.
Why is 192.168.0.255 (network broadcast) opened for ?
May be exact such address (network broadcast) is inbtended for receiving
broadcasts

Hmmm, I founded some at
https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba-technical/2012-July/085752.html
As I saw these patches was already implemented.
But is it possible to receive broadcast not to 0.0.0.0 but to x.y.z.255 ?
This is network broadcast either.
And opened 0.0.0.0 even with checking of source net is quite insecure from
net security point of view.
I think so.
May be is it necessary to add

Samba4 and 0.0.0.0:137 and 0.0.0.0:138 opened, why ? How do close it ?
I have founded that 0.0.0.0:port could be "closed" by setting up socket
address = wishing IP addresses,
for example socket address = 127.0.0.1 192.168.0.254

Xen 3: Untethered bridges??
Hi There.
I am in the process of "upgrading" my Xen 2.0.7 server with a Xen 3.0.2,
though I am doing so on a different machine. My firewall will be running as
a DomU, asit also does on the existing server.
The new server is Ubuntu 6.06 and the existing server is Debian Sarge.
On the existing server, I have the WAN interface hidden from Dom0 with the two
other physical interfaces

"DNS name does not exist" when joining Samba PDC domain
I am attempting to join a domain managed by a Samba PDC from several
Windows machines, both Windows 2000 Professional and Windows XP
Professional. They all give a similar error. The Windows 2000 error
gives me a URL that redirects to:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/dns/tshoot/dns_tshoot2A.asp
The XP error is attached.
Any idea how I can fix this problem? If necessary, I can modify the

Is there any work being done on implementing IM/SIMPLE support

Another * crash
I have an interesting problem now. I use asterisk to connect
to both FWD and a sip provider here in sweden. suddenly, (i know
my provider upgraded from a unknown SIP proxy to SER) Asterisk crashes when I try
to make a call using this provider. FWD still works fine, and I can call directly
towards the GW to POTS without any problems. But, as I call using my providers
SER, Asterisk crashes.

can't mount smb shares
Hi list,
it's me again. I have 2 samba servers, one as a PDC, the other as a file
server.
I can now join the domain. But it's impossible to mount the smb shares.
The 2 servers are listening on several private networks, using vlans.
10.16.41.0/24 is a routed network, all over the campus. The others are
just nated through a FreeBSD box.
All dns datas are ok and uptodate
