LDAP Samba BDC
Hi, I was wondering if a Samba BDC should be able to create users and computer accounts when connecting to a LDAP PDC server? Should the add scripT lines be included in a BDC's smb.conf file? Normally, as far I know, BDC should just log on users. Or am I wrong? Thanks,

We have SuSE SLES9 servers with LDAP master/slave replication (24 replications/BDC's) All working fine -joining domain etc. The problem I am having is PC's at remote sites (BDC) with a local replica (OpenLDAP) periodically change the sambaNTPassword/sambaLMPassword on there own and write to the local LDAP server and do NOT follow the referral to the master. Replication errors with LDAP and problems with NT machines
Hi all! I work as a computer technician for a small school and have recently upgraded our network to use samba servers. Our main computers are a PDC, a BDC, a file server and a backup server, all using Red Hat Fedora Core 3 as a base. The clients on our network consist of machines with Windows XP and a few with Windows NT. Everything seems to work just fine except for some minor but annoying

FW: making BDC samba + ldap server
Is this Samba 3 or Samba 4? If samba 3, which ldap server are you using> What is the mail server? Does the mail server have its own LDAP server included it or is also using an external LDAP server. If you want replication between LDAP servers, they should be the same type of LDAP server (e.g. OpenLDAP or Apache Directory Server or Oracle Directory Server.) If you have one

Samba PDC + OpenLDAP replica
Hi! I would like to ask you Samba gurus if it is possible to set up Samba PDC which uses OpenLDAP replica as backend. I had two separate OpenLDAP master servers (2.2.13-4) for two different Samba PDC servers (3.0.14a-2) with TLS support in different virtual networks (VLANs), and all worked fine. However, I decided that it would be nice (from an administrative point of view) to have all

Samba + LDAP over the WAN
Since we're on the subject of Samba over the WAN.... (BTW, I'm running three offices with a Samba 3.0.9 PDC and two Samba 3.0.9 BDCs over an FreeSwan based WAN and it works just fine. The WINS server is a must in my book though.) Last Thursday and Friday, one of the remove office's WAN lines went down. While the outages were significant, nothing major happened because of it. But,

Samba LDAP replication weirdness...
I have the PDC/BDC with a master slave LDAP directory set up and operating. One problem is that I've only been able to get the LDAP Master/Slave replication working if I use Manager as the binddn for the replication. I'm using the IDEALX smbldap tools. If I use another user I get a ERROR: Insufficient access: no write access to entry error and a .rej file is created. Each entry shows

multiple ldap servers in bdc/pdc environment
Hi all, I'm setting up a number of samba DC's across several branch offices using the Samba 3.0.0 release's native LDAP support. I'd like to build some redundancy into my setup, such as having slave LDAP servers in case the master is down/unavailable. However, when I have multiple ldapsam entries in my smb.conf I get duplicate or triplicate users listed when performing a

Should it be: passwd program = /usr/bin/smbpasswd -r <PDC address> %u I'm having a problem with passwords not staying in sync between the PDC and BDC with pass backend ldap. The systems are all Fedora Core 4, Samba 3.0.14a, openldap 2.2.23 Kent N
