Samba + LDAP + TLS
Hi! I'm a bit new to Samba+LDAP integration, and most likely because of that I experienced this morning something I can't fully understand. I would appreciate if someone could explain to me what was really wrong. So, our name server was unavailable this morning due to OS update. Division's Samba and LDAP services are running on same server, and Samba is using TLS in connecting to

Problem manipulating files when a replica is down
We currently have a small pilot gluster setup as Replica 2 + 1 (arbiter) As a DR test we decided to see that to see what would happen when taking one of the replicas offline. For the first couple of hours everything seemed fine and then one of my colleagues tried to a directory with files via samba from a windows client by using robocopy. At this point it starting to go wrong. The brick went

Convert replica 2 to replica 2+1 arbiter
I must ask again, just to be sure. Is what you are proposing definitely supported in v3.8? Convert replica 2 to replica 2+1 arbiter
gluster volume add-brick volname replica 3 arbiter 1 brickhost:brickpath/to/new/arbitervol Yes. The replica 3 looks odd. Somewhere in 3.12 (?) or not until v4 a change in command will happen so it won't count the arbiter as a replica. Upgrade Gluster 3.7 to 3.12 and add 3rd replica [howto/help]
Hello all fellow GlusterFriends, I would like you to comment / correct my upgrade procedure steps on replica 2 volume of 3.7.x gluster. Than I would like to change replica 2 to replica 3 in order to correct quorum issue that Infrastructure currently has. Infrastructure setup: - all clients running on same nodes as servers (FUSE mounts) - under gluster there is ZFS pool running as raidz2 with SSD

Convert replica 2 to replica 2+1 arbiter
Hi! I am using GlusterFS on CentOS7 with glusterfs-3.8.15 RPM version. I currently have a replica 2 running and I would like to get rid of the split-brain problem before it occurs. This is one of the possible solutions. Is it possible to and an arbiter to this volume? I have read in a thread from 2016 that this feature is planned for version 3.8. Is the feature available? If so, could you give

Adding/Removing bricks/changing replica value of a replicated volume (Gluster 3.2.1, OpenSuse 11.3/11.4)
Hi! Until now, I use Gluster in a 2-server setup (volumes created with replica 2). Upgrading the hardware, it would be helpful to extend to volume to replica 3 to integrate the new machine and adding the respective brick and to reduce it later back to 2 and removing the respective brick when the old machine is cancelled and not used anymore. But it seems that this requires to delete and

Upgrade Gluster 3.7 to 3.12 and add 3rd replica [howto/help]
Procedure looks good. Remember to back up Gluster config files before update: /etc/glusterfs /var/lib/glusterd If you are *not* on the latest 3.7.x, you are unlikely to be able to go back to it because PPA only keeps the latest version of each major branch, so keep that in mind. With Ubuntu, every time you update, make sure to download and keep a manual copy of the .Deb files. Otherwise you

Expand replicated bricks to more nodes/change replica count
Hi list I have set up several volumes on a two-node Gluster setup using "replica 2" configurations. I would like to add two more nodes to the trusted pool so that all volumes are replicated on 4 nodes. I wonder if that can be done online, but after doing some research on this I didn't find evidence that it's possible to change the replica count _after_ the volume has been

Not possible to stop geo-rep after adding arbiter to replica 2
I managed to force stopping geo replication using the "force" parameter after the "stop" but there are still other issues related to the fact that my geo replication setup was created before I added the additional arbiter node to my replca. For example when I would like to stop my volume I simply can't and I get the following error: volume stop: myvolume: failed: Staging

Creating cluster replica on 2 nodes 2 bricks each.
Hello We are trying to setup Gluster for our project/scratch storage HPC machine using a replicated mode with 2 nodes, 2 bricks each (14tb each). Our goal is to be able to have a replicated system between node 1 and 2 (A bricks) and add an additional 2 bricks (B bricks) from the 2 nodes. so we can have a total of 28tb replicated mode. Node 1 [ (Brick A) (Brick B) ] Node 2 [ (Brick A) (Brick

Samba + LDAP over the WAN
Since we're on the subject of Samba over the WAN.... (BTW, I'm running three offices with a Samba 3.0.9 PDC and two Samba 3.0.9 BDCs over an FreeSwan based WAN and it works just fine. The WINS server is a must in my book though.) Last Thursday and Friday, one of the remove office's WAN lines went down. While the outages were significant, nothing major happened because of it. But,

Quotas not working after adding arbiter brick to replica 2
Hello, As you might have read in my previous post on the mailing list I have added an arbiter node to my GlusterFS 3.8.11 replica 2 volume. After some healing issues and help of Ravi that could get fixed but now I just noticed that my quotas are all gone. When I run the following command: glusterfs volume quota myvolume list There is no output... In the /var/log/glusterfs/quotad.log I can see the
