Question on Samba Service
Hi, For no particular reason, my Samba service didn't start yesterday, when I went to start it by going in the /usr/local/samba/sbin and then typing SMBD I got an error "permission denied" and something about the port 139 (sorry I don't have the whole error message) No changes were made on the box. I started looking over the web and I found an something out something to

smbd daemon uses all filedescriptors
We are running samba on a number of HP systems running HP/UX 11.00. We moved from samba version 2.0.7. to samba version 2.2.3a. We have about 200-400 smbd's running on one host. Samba version 2.2.3a was running without any problems for about two weeks. But now on two different servers indepent of each other, the file table was full. We found out that ONE smbd used about 5000 !!

defunct smbd processes on SGI
Hello We are running samba on SGI/SUN/HP fileservers. We saw a problem on the SGI fileservers. After a while a lot of defunct smbd deamons were hanging and occupying the slots in the process table. We saw the problem with IRIX 5.2 and samba 1.9.16p11 and IRIX 6.2 and samba 1.9.17.p4 . Has anybody seen this problem before? This is a serious problem, because the smbd daemons are filling the

Fwd: Re: Fwd: Re: Fwd: Re: Kerberos and NTLMv2 authentication
Hello, I performed a test in order to get access to my samba share with winbindd (and not sssd). For that, 1. I change the gid of domain users from 513 to 15513 (to match with the domain range 10000 - 14999) And verify my test user is part of 15513 2. Stop sssd and change nsswitch.conf like this : /passwd:???? files winbind// //shadow:???? files// //group:????? files //winbind// / 3.

client min protocol = SMB2
I did not set max protocol to SMB2 in smb.cnf, I don't want to force SMB2 selection if SMB3 can be used by a client. The machine is a Windows 7, so is SMB2 compliant. Fwd: Re: Fwd: Re: Fwd: Re: Kerberos and NTLMv2 authentication
Is it possible to make start DOMAIN range from 500 instead of 10000 ? I realized that all my gid are in range 500 to 600 and not in range 10000 - 14999 I thought? DOMAIN range 10000 - 14999 was reserved for DOMAIN users -------- Message transf?r? -------- Sujet?: Re: [Samba] Fwd: Re: Fwd: Re: Kerberos and NTLMv2 authentication Date?: Tue, 18 Jun 2019 16:25:39 -0300 De?: Edouard Guign? via

Hello, Thank you ! I add server min protocol = SMB2_02 to smb.cnf All clients are now using SMB2_10 as minimum protocol version May you indicate me the difference between "client min protocol" and "server min protocol" ? "server min protocol" is to use on a domain member "client min protocol" is to use in which case ? Should I also set client min

The 2 commands works : # getent passwd MYDOMAIN\\usertest MYDOMAIN\\usertest:*:10430:14513:user TEST:/home/usertest:/bin/bash # getent group MYDOMAIN\\"Utilisateurs du domaine" MYDOMAIN\utilisateurs du domaine:x:14513: I have to put "Utilisateurs du domaine" instead of Domain\ Users because the Windows AD is a french AD. "ksh: scp: not found"
I upgraded a compiled version of ssh-1.2.27 to a swinstalled depot of OpenSSH_2.5.1p1 on HPUX-11.00. I created links in /usr/local/bin/<ssh program> pointing to /opt/openssh2/bin/<ssh program>. Ssh works. Scp does not. HP support does not support ssh. Below the line you will find the output of a verbose scp command from the server to it self.

wine quit working; says "unhandled exception"
Hi! I have been a moderate user of WINE for a few months and it has worked fairly well for the couple of applications that I have tried to run. My SuSE 8.1 Linux laptop is laid out as / linux (reiserfs) /mnt/win windows c: (vfat32) /mnt/chunk windows d: (vfat32) and I have previously had no problems either running WINE or booting into Win98. I have been able to call my program as

Fwd: Re: Fwd: Extended acls with AD - problem with default/herited permissions
Hello Dale, Set inherit acls = yes locally to my share groups, and remove map acl inherit = yes from global parameters of smb.conf does not solve my issue. I still have acl "Domain Users" added to new folders/files. As i write in my previous email, the only way i found to disable acl "Domain Users" to be added was with : inherit owner = yes With some disavantages for users

Trying regression tests
I know it is just after a release, but I'm trying to see how the regression tests look on Tru64. I hadn't had a chance to really look at them before because I didn't have sudo installed on Tru64 (now I do). Anyway, for the 3.9p1 release, all of them run except for a couple of problems: - agent-ptrace fails; it looks like setgid isn't enough to kill tracing under Tru64, and I
