Where is the tdbsam password database file?
I'm curious to know where the tdbsam password database file is kept on
my Fedora 7 system. Using the unmodified smb.conf file that shipped
with Fedora 7, I've enabled users using smbpasswd, and successfully
accessed shares. I just can't figure out where the password database
is located:
[root@box ~]# service smb start
[root@box ~]# setsebool samba_enable_home_dirs on

force group broken in 3.0.14?
I've got some problems with file access control on a linux-server
with samba 3.0.14a compiled from a src-rpm. This is the method I've
been using for the past 5-6 releases. It's a redhat 8.0 machine
and the kernel version is 2.4.30. The problems seem to have appeared
since upgrading from 3.0.13.
Symptom 1: When using force group on a share, users from the two groups

Not reading quota under 3.0.0
Hi,
I'm using samba 3.0.0 under redhat 9.0. Quota is assinged to user but they
can't see their used space on windows explorer. The used space reported is
only 8.0k, no matter what they have in ther home.
I used the samba rpm downloaded from samba site. For a smbd -b command i
get this (extract):

samba and squid are not working together
Hello folks,
I am implementing on a RH Fedora Core Linux machine NTLM authentication
through samba 3.0.2 for my squid server (Squid-2.5STABLE5-2). Our
customer's environment is Mixed Mode Windows 2000.
To make a long story short:
(1) I have successfully upgraded kerberos from 1.2.7 to 1.3.3 (I was
successful because I also upgraded the libraries that kerberos 1.3.3
requires

Many thanks for your help in getting there!
I have now only used

From cursorily testing so far, indeed everything

Samba as ADS Fileserver
Dear All
I've been working at building a file server to provide file sharing for a
Windows 2003 Active Directory Domain.
Our requirements are for the Windows Server Administrator to be able to create
all the users' home folders in the Samba share and apply restrictive
permissions. Ie. User joe, //samba/joe$ or //samba/share/joe (Dfs), with
permissions for only the user "joe"

[3.0.2] Trouble using ACLs: wrong file permissions after write/cr eate
Hi everybody,
I have a problem with Samba 3.0.2 using POSIX ACLs for shares.
File written from an ACL group/user will get wrong permissions
and are unchangeable for other users.
First the important informations about the configuration and
the setup:
a) Base system: Debian 3.0.1 with all updates
b) Samba: Self compiled binary within /opt/samba-3.0.2

Samba 3.0.20b / AIX 5.3 / VFS Modules
Has anyone successfully gotten the VFS modules to work under AIX 5.3 and
Samba 3.0.x ?
I have no problem compiling Samba 3.0.x and having it working; but when
I set up a VFS module the following occurs:

Hi
Thanks for the feedback.
I currently have 3 production domains.
- MYDOMAIN.COM is a production Windows 2008 domain used to support MS
Exchange (but not file sharing.)
- TECH - Samba3 "classic" domain with unix domain controllers that
supports most users for authentication and file sharing. The DC
machines are both Samba domains (for Windows clients) and KRB/LDAP

Samba Comple Problem on Solaris 2.8
So I am compling the newest release of samba 3.0.14a on Solaris 2.8.
I can get it to compile but I don't get all the built in modules that I
should and smbd when fired up bombs out with something like,
-------
derek@supernova:/opt/UMsmb/sbin# ./smbd -c /etc/samba/smb.conf -i
smbd version 3.0.14a started.

a little issue with ADS
Hello Everyone,
I must extend my THANK YOU for such fantastic work!, as well as this great
resource.
I've tried fiddling with AD and samba 3.0 alpha23 as well as a CVS checkout
dated APR-16-03.
Below are the relevant(Hopefully:)) items of my config. Once I can get a
tgt and initial ticket I think I'll be O.K.
I was hoping someone on this list could point out a gotcha :).
TIA,
Jesse.

Samba 4.4.5 segmentation fault on Darwin
First: Long-time samba user (since 2004), and my first reach-out to everyone, so thank you for the great work!
New issue: Both joining an AD domain and smbd fail with a segmentation fault on the Mac. I’ve tried to debug it the best I can but I’m not a C developer and can’t figure out what is the cause.
For smbd, I have the log errors and the stack trace from it which I hope will provide some

FreeBSD 7.2 and Samba 3.3.7 AD 2003 Authentication Problem
I am having problems upgrading samba 3.0.36 to 3.3.7. I have a working
installation of Samba 3.0.36 on FreeBSD 7.2 amd64, configured as a
domain member in a 2003 AD, running in native mode. Domain controllers
have Services for Unix 3.5 installed and I am using idmap backend with
SFU schema mode. I have enclosed my configuration files and compile
options further down. When I upgrade to version
