Samba3.0.4: Troubles with charset
Hi all,
I have a samba 3.0.4 installation on AIX 5.2 ML05. Trying to establish
Samba with special character support for Italian language I have some
troubles in displaying them
in smb.conf I was not able to put CP850, so I put in

checking with testparm -sv it looks fine

Why not to read environment before do_pwchange() ?
Hi
I use OpenSSH 3.8.1p1 on AIX 5.2 ML05. (compiled from source, not
IBM's package). On one of my hosts users use it solely for password
changes.
Default user shell is /usr/bin/passwd. After one logs in, environment
is set per user (/etc/security/environ, ~/.ssh/environment) LANG is
set to pl_PL
passwd is "aware" of the environment and system talks to user in

[LLVMdev] llvm-dis fails to parse bytecode emitted by clang
Hi,
I am trying to generate LLVM bytecode using CLANG and I ran into the
following problem. If I run clang with the -emit-llvm option and then
try to get a textual representation of the output using llvm-dis, the
latter crashes because of a failed assertion in BitCodeReader.cpp,
mentioning a "Type mismatch in value table" (the exact error message
is appended at the end of this email).

[LLVMdev] llvm-dis fails to parse bytecode emitted by clang
Hi,
For the first problem, try
clang -S -emit-llvm test.c -o test.ll
you should get the llvm IR and you don't need to use llvm-dis. Although I
have tried your example with the exact commands and source code you posted
and it worked just fine for me. I also use clang and LLVM 2.8 compiled from
sources.
For the second problem, suppress -emit-llvm, since you want the executable,
not an object

Samba4 - user permissions on shares
Hi all,
I installed Samba4 on an Ubuntu Server 11.10 at home for some testing.
It is configured as DC and everything seems to work just fine.
I managed to add win7 and win xp machines to the domain and to browse
the AD settings with the microsoft administrative tools.
I also created a simple share and it works.
Now I would like to learn how to give specific permissions to my shares.

Mongrel and EBADF error consuming resources
In the last few weeks I''ve noticed the load average spiking up for 5
minutes at a time (2-3.5 on a system that usually runs around
0.5-1.5). Looking closer I found that one mongrel process and
litespeed are at the top, and using strace I''ve found that they''re
passing the file below, seems to get stuck on single file/EBADF error.
It happens with a number of different

Rails article on consuming a web service
Just in case anyone is interested, I''ve just published an article on the SOA Ranch that walks you through, step by step, how to consume a web service from within a Rails application. The article is available at:

rsync 2.5.5 consuming memory and spirals server down
Hi there,
I've a problem with rsync - see below.
(by the way: I'm using rsync since 2 years now, good work!)
my environment:
- linux, 2.4, Dual-PIII-1.2GHz, 1 GB RAM. more of these machines.
- rsync 2.5.5
- openssh 3.3
the machines are on a lan, so bandwith is not a problem.
I sync large directories (about 6 GB growing) between the machines,
no problem - memory consumtion of rsync is

[LLVMdev] Getting oriented : Consuming Java bytecode with LLVM
Hi. "New" user looking for best places to dig.
Question :
Where should I look for the current state(s) of the art for translating
Java bytecode into LLVM IR?
My objective is to end up with a retargetable toolchain like this:
**.java ==(javac)==> { *.class } ==(Java bytecode frontend)==> *.bc
==(backend)==> target language*
My targets are various, and I expect to have to

Asterisk consuming 100% CPU - CDR loop
Hi,
I had Asterisk threads consuming 100% CPU at times since last week. Of
course, last week an extra card was installed (we had a 1PRI, a 4PRI was
added) so search concentrated on that, but to no avail. Today, I installed
DDD on the machine and quickly found out that it was looping because
cdr->next->next == cdr in ast_cdr_setapp().
I patched this up with some simple code in

Hide time consuming processed by prompt
Dear Asterisk users,
I have a simple question, but guess the answer is not that simple :-)
What I want to achieve is to "hide" time consuming processing by a
prompt (load of a customer history), stop the prompt and come
back to the dial plan when the information is available. I'm actually
using AGI script.
How can I do this with asterisk ?
Best regards,
Patrick

understand which asterisk thread is consuming CPU
Dear all
using top -H i can see that some asterisk thread are consuming many
CPU (sometimes more than 50%)
Is there a way to understand what is doing the process with pid 9429 ?
i've tried the core show thread command, but it doesn't seem to print
any PID information.
Thanks to all in advance

Asterisk consuming high cpu usage
Hi,
I have been using asterisk 10.0.1 for 8 months and now I have updated it to
12.6.0. I have not made much changes in conf files.
I am seeing continues warnings saying
"Can't send 10 type frames with SIP/Gtalk write" on console. Which I had
never seen in the previous version.
I have seen compared chan_sip.c from both versions and It seems 12.6.0 is
also made to support all the

ICE consuming High CPU
Hi,
I am on asterisk 12.6.0. Previously I was using 10.0.1 and for Gtalk I was
using chan_gtalk and jabber configuration.
But on 12.6.0 I tried to use chan_motif, asterisk starts consuming 100%
cpu. From pstack trace I got it is because of ICE and to run motif ICE is
necessary.
Has anyone else seen this issue or any solution for this? I am using
neither STUN nor TURN. I have just enabled ICE in

How to count I/O consuming in OProfile while profiling xapian
Hi,
I have tried to profile xapian, according to the Wiki:
http://trac.xapian.org/wiki/ProfilingXapian, we can profiling I/O bound
cases with oprofile, but from many other articles, it seems that we can not
do it in oprofile.
I have followed that wiki page, installed oprofile and libc6-dbg, but it
doesn't work, only CPU bound functions are counted.
Anyone know how to count I/O cost in

IRC question about consuming stdin
12:39 < eblake> rwmjones: 'nbdkit -s sh -' won't work, neither will 'nbdkit -s curl password=-'
12:40 < eblake> should we have an easier way for plugins to detect whether they can safely consume stdin and/or write to stdout during .config?
12:40 < eblake> and in turn, have nbdkit_read_password() check whether reading from stdin is safe?
