WERR_ACCESS_DENIED trying to set printer driver in samba-3.0.23d
I am having problems getting Pont and Print to work with samba-3.0.23d, cups and ldap. I used an XP box to install the windows drivers on the samba server by adding the drivers in the "Printers and Faxes" section (using the server properties tab) for the samba server. This part worked fine but when I want to associate the driver to the printer I get an access denied in windows and in

Can't connect from Windows
I am setting up my first 3.0.1 installation. I am using Slackware 9.1, I am trying to connect to a Windows 2000 Server. I do not need active directory support (as far as I know). The server's function is a file server. So Users need seamless authentication... of course. I do not have LDAP installed. It's a plain server besides the 3ware RAID. I compiled and installed samba 3.0.1,

Resolve Domain
Dear list, Samba allows our school to use on non-free operation systems on work stations. Or should I rather put it this way: In combination with Debian-Edu, Samba allows us to use free operations systems on servers and work stations despite the fact that some colleagues stick to Windows... Now, we observe a problem that still needs to be examined further on: If the server has been running

I am trying to setup a FC-4 box to be a PDC for a small network of about 150 users. I was following the HOWTO on the SAMBA site. Everything seems to be fine however I cannot join the domain. I get the error "User name could not be found." The

Authentication failure when accessing Samba server in a NT domain
Hello Samba Gurus, I have configured my Samba install to be a domain member of a NT4-Style domain. The version of samba used is 3.0.13. The domain joining process worked fine (net rpc join). An excerpt of smb.conf is provided at the end for reference. The problem is that when users access this server, they are challenged for the username password. I was of the impression that this process would

how about redirecting the smbpasswd file to the older version (assuming you have one) using smbpasswd file = /file/path/smbpasswd , I replaced my copy of smbpasswd for 3.09 with a 2.216 and the smbpasswd command stopped working, (no new entry added to the smbpasswd file), but when i used that it worked again "Izo" <I@siol.net> wrote in message news:41B8004E.8050807@siol.net...

I have been trying for 3 weeks to get 3.0.21b to work on AIX 5.2. I am currently running 3.0.4, which has no problems. I am getting very frustrated, and am about to give up entirely on Samba. NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
Hi, I've installed Fedora C1 with Samba 3.0.2 and openldap 2.1.22. I've followed the example in the Samba-3 by example guide to use my server as a PDC. I'm able to connect to this server with all my users but I'm unable to use "Administrator" to log. Maybe it's normal but I doubt it. Here's the log I got for smbclient: [root@fs01 sbin]# smbclient -L

samba3 and kerberos authentication of users
Hi all, this is probably VFAQ, but I never found a working solution. I have a standalone samba server running samba ver. 3. In the network, we have heimdal kerberos used to authenticate users for pop3,imap,web-based applications etc. Now I would like to make the samba communicating with kerberos kdc so there will no longer be users in smbpasswd with separate passwords outside of kerberos.
