rpcclient 'setdriver' problem
Hello,
I'm new to Samba but I believe I have followed the example pages and
posts to the point where I'm stumped. I'm trying to setup a print
server that acts as a raw print spooler to a few network printers I
have for Windows machines. I twould be nice to have the Samba server
provide the print drivers for the windows boxes when they browse the
neighborhood for the device. I

Cupsaddsmb only running "setdriver"
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi All,
I downloaded a fresh cd (Debian 3.1) to install a Printserver with.
I've come to the bit that I can run cupsaddsmb, and expected it to
run smbclient to add the drivers to the print$ share, and then
rpcclient to do the "addriver" part and finaly the "setdriver" part.
Unfortunatly, it is doing only the setdriver part,

Samba PDC and Automatic Printer Install
Hello,
I am trying to install automatic printer driver download and install.
I am running Samba 3, as a PDC, on RedHat 7.3.
It seems everything is setup correctly, although I cannot get the rpcclient
to 'see' my printer.
Please notice these two printers listed below ar the same (lp & HP2300).

werr_access_denied when running setdriver for a printer
Hi all,
I'm getting WERR_ACCESS_DENIED error for some of the printers when running
setdriver printer_name printer_driver as part of the cupsaddsmb step.
Weirdly, it works for some printers, and never works for others, while all
the printers have the same settings. Samba 3.5.20 with CUPS 1.5.4.
Does this part of log give any clue of why could this happen?

Samba 3.0b3+CUPS+server drivers
I'm trying to setup a printer using Cups, using cupsaddsmb
It uploads the files ok (smbclient ... -c 'mkdir W32X86;put ...;put ...')
It adds the driver ok (rpcclient -c 'adddriver "Windows NT X86"

(I have verified this worked from server properties in "printers and faxes"
of the linux server: the driver "canon" shows

Access denied/WERR_ACCESS_DENIED on Printer Properties/rpcclient
hello to everyone,
I'm experiencing an annyoing problem with a shared printer (managed by
samba 3.0.20b-3.4 on Linux - SuSe). The problem is that I cannot
modify any of the printer settings (e.g. Location, etc. and of course
the driver to use). I've successfully uploaded the correct driver with
the APW in the print$ share. The printer data/settings can't be
modified by rpcclient too.

AW: rpcclient setdriver fails: WERR_INVALID_PRINTER_NAME
Hi Kurt,
You are absolutely right (as always). After restarting smb, rpcclient
setdriver works fine.
May be - in the next future release - cupsaddsmb will work.
Thank you very much.

Hi,
I have Centos 5.5 64b with Sernet samba 3.5.6-43.el5 packages. It is

What is WERR_ACCESS_DENIED
Hi,
I searched through the list archives and saw this question asked but not
answered, so I'm hoping someone can help me.
I am trying to use rpcclient to set a printer driver and it's failing
with the error message: WERR_ACCESS_DENIED. I've included the full
output of the command at debug 4 level below.
Here's the probably pertinent information. First, this use to work.

rpcclient and setdriver
Hello,
I'm trying to use rpcclient 'setdriver' as an unprivileged user; a
special lpadmin user with very limited rights has been created, and
ownership of the location of driver files (/home/PrintDrivers) given to him.
when executing the smbclient and rpc commands like cupsaddsmb does,
nearly everything works fine, except the last command:
when i issue an rpcclient localhost -U

I'm trying to add print drivers to printers on a Samba server using a

Samba 2.2.7a & CUPS 1.1.17, when I attempt to add drivers to the new

I am having trouble getting the cupsaddsmb script to work to add the
drivers. Everything seems to work (it copies the drivers to the correct
directories), but I keep getting the result NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL error
message on the rpcclient setdriver command. When trying to connect to
the printer from a 2K client, I see a client-error-not-found error in
the log.

Setting Windows drivers gives access denied error
Good morning!
For some time I have been experiencing a problem with adding Windows
drivers for printers available and configured in CUPS already. Not being
utterly familiar with how the process works I first tried it as root
from different Windows machines, both W2K and XP Pro. I saw the driver
files being uploaded, but then got an error message 'Printer settings
could not be saved.

Samba Print Driver Errors
Hola folks,
I'm experiencing a problem trying to get drivers to upload/download properly
with Samba 2.2.5 and CUPS. I've read the various HOWTOs and have managed to
get drivers to upload, except that it errors out, saying that it was unable
to apply the changes.
The driver files do successfully upload to the proper directory on the Samba
server.
If I try to do things by hand:

rpcclient setprinter failes
Hi List.
We have an Redhat 8.0 machine who acts as an printserver.
I'm sharing printers via Samba and using CUPS.
Samba is 2.2.7a and CUPS 1.1.8.
The Microsoft clients (Win9x, Win NT, Win 2k) is downloading the
driver from the server.
I had no problem to install and upload up to 55 printers but now I am
not able to set the driver.
I can install more printers, but when cupsaddsmb is running
