dates() is a great date function in R
Proper calendar dates in R are great for plotting and calculating. However for the non-wonks among us, they can be very frustrating. I have recently discussed the pains that people in my lab have had with dates in R. Especially the frustration of bringing date data into R from Excel, which we have to do a lot. Please find below a simple analgesic for R date importation that I discovered over

Organizing a Pre Astricon road trip
Hi All, I am cross posting this to the Asterisk Users, Biz, and Dev lists at the suggestion of David Duffet, so sorry if you see it multiple times. As this year Astricon is in Orlando, and most of us are tech geeks in on form or another, we are trying to organize a road trip to see NASA's Kennedy Space Center. I have been in touch with their group sales office and was told that there is a

Questionnaire Analysis virtually without continuous Variables
Hello! I am doing an analysis on a questionnaire of hunters taken in 4 different districts of some mysterious foreign country. The aim of the study was to gather info on the factors that determine the hunting success of a peculiarly beautiful bird in that area. All variables are factors, i.e. they are variables such as "Use of Guns - yes / no", "Use of Dogs - yes / no" and

Permission prob with scp
Hi... I am trying to do scp from one server to another. If permission of my home dir is 775 then it is not allowing to do the scp in case of passwd less authentication (i.e when i am using pubkey/private without passpharse). In this case it is asking for passwd even though the public key is present in home directory (.i.e in .ssh). But if i am changing the permission to 755 then it is not asking

Routing incoming H.323 calls to specific contexts.
Hi, We've been working a lot with Asterisk in SIP for over 6 months but I've finally succumb to the pressure of H.323. I need to find a way to do what we do with SIP but with H.323. That is to have calls from H.323 peers placed into their own unique context (unique to the endpoint placing the call into Asterisk) within Asterisk so this is obviously done using REGISTER's within SIP but

queue members
Hi, ZAP/DAHDI extension 3210 calls an Asterisk queue 4050 with one SIP agent 4053 added via ->QueueAdd("4050", "Local/4053 at from-internal/n", 1) (not via agents.conf). SIP extension 4053 rings, answers and then decides to blind-transfer to ZAP/DAHDI extension 3666. The "show queue" command still displays 4053 as "In use". However, if 3210 calls 4050

samba 2.2.8a, XP pro workgroup question.
Gang, This is my first post here so if I screw up please let me know. I run samba 2.2.8a on Solaris at home (UltraUX). I have several XP pro and win98 clients on this same network (192.168.1.x). I'm on a TCP/IP network and access my shares using the IP, not the UNC names. I use the same workgroup name on all of my hosts and use 'share' level security on the samba server and it is

Can I install in the following fashion?
<permit me my perhaps foolish preference...an explanation> I run mail service for a small college. I've long joked that if someone stole the mail server, the phone would ring before the alarm (which has a 1 minute delay) did, that the user base expected 25x8x367 coverage. Making updates/upgrades to the mail server feels like a tightrope walk with no net. I always appreciated

PBXNSIP Registration Issue
I've got PBXNSIP running on a windows box and it is trying to register with my Asterisk box. I can set up one trunk and it works fine, however if I try to setup a second trunk from the same box, there is some sort of authentication issue where Asterisk appears to be confusing which trunk is which. Here is the chunk from my sip.conf: [TEST1] context=STUFF-LD type=friend
