Hi Rowland, I've added the bit to the pam.d and rebooted the server but still no go The following is from the log file for the machine (user is testhome2) adding home's share [VM-WIN7-01$] for user 'LIN\VM-WIN7-01$' at '/home/%U/samba' get_auth_event_server: Failed to find 'auth_event' registered on the message bus to send JSON authentication events to:

2 things. Hai, Change [homes] to [users] and create the folder /home/LIN AD-DC's dont like [homes] Share /home/LIN as [users] Now, in the AD DC smb.conf, the templates settings are used by default. template homedir = /home/%D/%U Which results in your case to : /home/LIN/testhome2 That should do it, but rethink this part of you setup. You might need to change the pam part a bit, but

default roaming profile for Samba 3.0.2a / WinXP P
Hi togeteher, Config: Server: Samba 3.0.2a as PDC, no LDAP, no Kerberos Clients: WinXP Prof all working, dom-Logons are ok. When I add a new linux-user, there ist a default profile for the linux-user in the skel-directory. Does Samba provide a 'skel-profile' for new samba-users (=domain- users). If so, where do I have to put the default profile and do I have to set special owner /

Domain login problem...
Hi. Whups... Posted to wrong mailing list at first... but anyway... I am using Samba 2.2.6 with LDAP-support compiled in under RH7.3. (same happened with 2.2.5) I can logon from Win9x clients nicely to domain. I can usually join domain under Win2k-sp3. But I can't logon to domain. If I make local login to computer and then try to access shares, it works correctly. I can do logon to Linux

AD home drive
Hi Rowland, Initially I deposited the line towards the bottom but then it didn't work. The line wasn't getting enough attention so it decided to creep up a bit :) As suggested in the initial email, the box was a NT4 PDC which had the all the shares. The home drive pointed to /home/%U/samba. Looking at the logs, to me it looks like the default smb.conf template (as suggested by Louis)

How do I default to "Folder View" in my custom KDE user profile?
Hi, I'm currently busy tweaking KDE 4.14 on CentOS 7 to my needs. I want to use it as a base for an enterprise class desktop. In my humble opinion, CentOS' default KDE configuration is not very usable, so I created a default user profile that looks more like what openSUSE looked like a few years back. Here's the little script I'm using to install the various configuration files

Automating Creation Of Profile Directories For New Users
Hi This might seem to be a stupid question but here goes anyway. I am running a samba server as a PDC with roaming profiles enabled. My profiles are stored on the linux box at /samba/profiles/username. I tried setting a script to create the profile at the same time as adding the new user /usr/sbin/useradd -m u% cd /samba/profiles mkdir %u When I tried adding the a new user I got

Folder Redirection, Roaming Profiles and Working Offline
Hi, I have been trying to use samba for a while as a way to have an identical desktop/startmenu/profile/favourites/etc on multiple PCs. Samba is setup as the PDC and I can join the domain and login. The problems started firstly when I wanted to have some sort of caching and also logon concurrently to different pcs with the same user. The main problem being that whichever computer I log off

Bug: Loosing Group Permissions in Archive Mode with Sticky Bit and ACL Mask
Hello, I currently try to copy a directory locally between two ext4 filesystems while preserving permissions and ACLs using the -aAX options. Under some conditions, rsync does not copy the posix permissions completely, it changes the group::rwx to a group::--- permission. The latest rsync available on Debian Jessie is 3.1.1, but the changelog for 3.1.2 and 3.1.3 did not seem to mention such a bug

Skel VFS module crashes smbd when we have no ACL support in samba v2.2.9.
Hello! I have compiled samba v2.2.9 without ACL support and when I test skel vfs module I have encountered internal errors (SIGSEGV in child processes). Consider the file source/samba/vfs.c: struct vfs_ops default_vfs_ops = { ... /* POSIX ACL operations. */ #if defined(HAVE_NO_ACLS) NULL, NULL, #else vfswrap_chmod_acl, vfswrap_fchmod_acl, #endif ... }; As

User folder automatic creation - should use skel, but no
Hi, I am testing Samba 4.1.4 Sernet packages on Ubuntu 12.04 to replace our old Samba 3.x server. I edited pam common-session file and added '<https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_home_share>session required pam_mkhomedir.so skel=/etc/skel/ umask=0027' just before pam_unix.so and pam_sss.so. modifying the DB while iterating is user error, right?
Hello, I noticed a problem with DatabaseCorruptError exceptions with public-inbox and I guess it's user error... The problem is public-inbox was calling replace_document to modify the DB while iterating through a PostingIterator. At first I thought it was a glass problem, but I've hit it with chert on my dataset, too. I have a standalone Perl script to reproduce the problem at

ssh login through AD solution
Thanks to Anthony Ciarochi at Centeris for this solution. I have a Centos (Red Hat-based) server that is now accessible to AD users AND local users via ssh. I can control which AD groups can login using the syntax below. Red Hat-based distros use "pam_stack" in pam.d which is quite different than Debian's "include" based pam.d, cat /etc/pam.d/sshd #

Roaming profiles migration
Hi, I've to migrate transparently a NT4 PDC to a SAMBA-LDAP-PDC with 1000 users. Each user has a roaming profile on the NT server. Of course, I want to migrate all the roaming profiles automaticaly on the Samba server without any intervention on clients ! How can do that ? How to preserve the ownership of each profile ? Thank you, -- Rapha?l Berghmans <rberghmans@arafox.com>
