The problem on joining a computer running FreeBSD(v5.4) to a Windows 2003 Active Directory domain using samba3.
Hi, I encountered a problem when I joined a FreeBSD machine to a windows = 2003 AD domain. I passed following steps successfully: 1.#net ads join =A8CUAdministrator =20 2.#wbinfo =A8Cu 3.#wbinfo =A8Cg But when I check: #id Domain\\username (I can find this username using command = =A1=B0wbinfo =A8Cu=A1=B1) Id Domain\\username: no such user =20 I found: After restarting samba, there

Samba BDC in the same subnet not getting connection requests
Hi, I have a Samba 3 PDC running with around 20 Windows XP/2K clients. The PDC and the clients are in different subnets. I recently decided to add a Samba 3 BDC in the same subnet as the clients, to give some failover and also to reduce across-switch traffic. After creating the BDC, I restarted one of the clients but don't see it establishing connection with the BDC, instead it connects as

setting up a new ADS infrastructure
I try to set up a small ADS infrastructure: 1 samba ADS-controller, 1 samba file server, 2 Linux and 6 Windows clients. Starting with controller and file server, quite a lot of things work, but not everything. Here it starts getting complicate: looking for manuals, googling for error messages leads to lots of different advices for different versions... not easy. There are open questions, but I am

WINS problems
Hello, Is it possible to add some static entries to the WINS database? We would like to add a few (logon-)server entries to it, when wins starts up. Why? We have several Samba servers who act as logon server on different subnets for different domains. Each logon server also acts as a local WINS server. It doesn't seem possible, not even with the options 'remote announce' or

'Not listening for calling name'
I'm having a strange problem with samba, 2.2.3a running on an out-of-the-box SuSE 8.0 system. This is the first time I've set it up (hence the dumb questions I was asking on here a day or two ago). I've now worked my way through diagnosis.txt and a couple of odd netBIOS issues with the NT4 PDC, and at last I have some shares set up that my Windows client can use quite happily.

Samba seem to work fine but "cannot find my workgroup"
Hi, I setup a new samba file server (in a priviledged Proxmox container using the Debian 12 template) and apparently it works fine. In log I see every 10 seconds: write_browse_list: Fatal error - cannot find my workgroup DMYDOM Google found one hint telling it should set "network = ip", but man page does not explain such an option. Another hint suggests it could be related to an

pid and lock dir during compile
I am compiling 2.2.8 on a Caldera Openlinux box that was running 2.0.5 or some such. It already has a working config and uses samba.d dirs for it's files: /etc/samba.d /var/lock/samba.d /var/log/samba.d etc During compile I use following switches --with-piddir=/var/lock/samba.d --with-lockdir=/var/lock/samba.d However the pid files are ending up in /var/run/samba instead of

GitHub monorepo and commit access
Hello, I was wondering what was the current expected practice for committing patches to LLVM now that the Git monorepo is here. I have commit access to SVN but when I try to land my patched through GitHub I get an error saying "Permission to llvm/llvm-project.git denied". Depending on the answer, the documentation might need to be slightly clarified: the getting started documents for

TEST 3 If you get a "connection refused" response then the smbd server may not be running. If you installed it in inetd.conf then you probably edited that file incorrectly. If you installed it as a daemon then check that it is running, and check that the netbios-ssn port is in a LISTEN state using "netstat -a". Note: You have xinetd not inetd on the redhat box.
