Upgrade from 2.2.8 to 3; users lack SIDs
I recently have upgraded from Samba 2.2.8 to 3.0.7. I am using LDAP as a backend, but I'm running into a problem. Namely, since my user entries have no sambaSID attribute, Samba decides they don't exist. (At least, that's how it looks in the logs, included below.) I've looked through the conversion script that's included with Samba 3, but it just uses the rid attribute,

LDAP issue, access denied adding machine to domain, and LDAP user can't make unix-login on the box.
Hi, I have a LDAP backend for my Samba 3.0.2, and everything seems to work except adding XP machines to the domain, and unix logins with a ldap client. Since this mail is very long, I have created a small index, so you don't get exhaustet in the middle of all the logs... ;) 1. LDAP user-creation 2. Group info 3. pam/nss info 4. smb.conf [global] 5. LDAP backend for a stand-alone server
I'm sure I'm missing something in the configuration or am misconfiguring the ldif. Regular linux accounts authenticate fine looking at the ldap but not samba accounts. When I try to map a drive, it just returns "Incorrect password or unkown username". I have ldap running on a seperate server from the samba server. I get nothing in the messages logs on the samba server,

LDAP and Domain
Hi to all, I'm configuring a samba server to act as Windows Domain Server through ldap, I've created the users for the domain, and seems to work fine when I'm not trying to log against the domain, (I tried with smbclient and mac os x). The problem is when I'm trying to add a windows machine to the domain, it ask me the login/password, I give one of "administrator"

strange trusts in 3.0.21?
We have a three-way Samba trust in our development environment. All three are using OpenLDAP and Samba 3.0.21. The LDAP database is shared for access to Posix/Samba user info. SID's are appropriately assigned to the users and machines with algorithmic RID's and the IDMAP table is preloaded with the SID-RID to UID mappings. This all works and was tested with assigning windows ACLs to shares

samba3+openldap:Problem during the LDAP search
Hi, I'm trying to use samba3+openldap as our PDC. I installed the server using CentOS4.4 single service CD and then use yum install openldap-servers to install openldap server. I already ran "smbpasswd -w secret". When I invoked "smbpasswd -a root" the following error showed up: [root@localhost samba]# smbpasswd -a root smbldap_search_suffix: Problem during the LDAP

Problems ldap authentication for Samba 3.5.11-2-1
Samba team, I'm having some problems to have a client Windows XP, I believe all systems could have the same issue, using Ldap authentication with Samba. This is a native OpenFiler configuration with a local LDAP server for Samba shares. The problem is that sharing is never authenticated where my suspicious is about sambaSID. Basically I create a test user called "rlvcosta". This

Wierd failure when adding W2K to Samba3.0.0+LDAP Domain
Dear list I have been at it for a few day trying to get my SuSE 8.2 server (FREESIDE) to produce a domain (SKOGFARET) for my Windows 2000 Server machine (BABYLON). I use OpenLDAP, and the setup seems to work in most ways, except the vital one [ie. I can mount shares, print, etc...] When I try to add W2K (BABYLON) to the domain, I get the following error: "The following error occured

My story installing Samba-LDAP PDC (it has a happy ending)
OK. I am starting to believe that Samba 3.0.x is not stable. At least, the documentation for Samba as PDC with OpenLDAP backend (which is what I have been trying to do for four days) is crap. All the documentation for 3.0.x is mixed with 2.2.x. Most documents start as instructions for 3.0.x but put a lot of information that doesn't apply to 3.0.x, but 2.2.x. People in the mailing list
