pam_mkhomdir.so is creating machine folders when used withsamba
I have tried changing the valid users on the [homes] share to %D+%u, instead of leaving the default, thinking it might be trying %S, which might have been causing the machine name folders to be created, that was not it, I tried changing the location of the pam_mkhomedir.so session string. I moved it to /etc/pam.d/samba, I moved it to the last string in system-auth, nothing has made a

Can,t get pam_mkhomedir to work...
On a ldap enabled CentOS 6.3 x64 system, I try to make it so home directories are auto-created. I added this : session required pam_mkhomedir.so skel=/etc/skel/ umask=0077 to my /etc/pam.d/system-auth And it does nothing. I restarted messagebus (I've seen references to that) and sshd, and logs don't mention anything in regards to pam_mkhomedir... Any hints ?

CentOS5 pam_mkhomedir
I have a problem creating homedirs on the fly. Since RHEL5 / CentOS5 you have to use pam_oddjob_mkhomedir instead of pam_mkhomedir. Everything is working (the homedir is created) but two things. First on every logon I get the following error message, and I don't know how to fix it: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name com.redhat.oddjob was not provided by any .service files

yet another "rsync hangs" question
Hello, I am sure the list has seem many of these questions, but I did not find one relating to my problem. I am using rsync 2.6.6 on windows xp professional and cygwin (latest) to sync files between the hard-drives and the portable drive. There is no other rsync daemon that I am contacting. Even if I try to transfer files from one subdirectory to another on the same drive, rsync will hang.

And also when I change the /home permission to 777, its creating home directory for new users on fly. When strace a su session, I getting the following error. My guess is the module

But pam_mkhomedir creates diferent case sensitive home dirs each time, even if shell prompt shows the name the propper way. Has anyone dealed with this issue ?. What is the best solution?. Thanks in advance !

pam_mkhomedir and dovecot
Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has successfully managed to configure pam_mkhomedir and dovecot, so that users home directories are automatically created? As far as I can tell, the login process runs as a non-root user, which results in a permission denied error while trying to create the users home directory. I'm not sure if this error is specific to dovecot or pam though. Any thoughts

Dovecot doesn't call pam_open_session, thus dodging pam_mkhomedir (fwd)

Winbind, pam_mkhomedir.so problem with long usernames
Hi, I've been succesfully connecting my SuSE Linux (since version 9.0) to my organization's NT domain using Samba's Winbind. The thing is multiple users use my PC, not only myself. Though it was also necessary to setup my pam.d to automatically create their home folders at first logon (using pam_mkhomedir.so). My NT user is something like "jdoe" but there are some users
