YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HOT DOGGIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think I fixed it. The problem - Squid worked at my test site - it did
not popup a login window, but instead used Ssamba's ntlm helper program
to get credentials from IE. But at my customer site it did (improperly)
popup a login window. The squid.conf files were almost identical - even
to the point where my working test site incorrectly

Multiple Group checking using ntlm_auth
Hi,
We are running Squid version: 2.5.STABLE13 and Samba version: Version
3.0.21b
We have it setup to use NTLM to check that the user belongs to a group
within the domain. The need has arrisen to be able to support multiple
groups. Is this possible?
Our squid.conf section:

Informal HOWTO - transparent authentication and optional outbound web filtering using Samba 3.0.13, Squid 2.5.STABLE7, SmartFilter 4.01, RedHat 9.0 in a Win2003 AD domain
Thanks to everyone for all the help getting this done. As promised,
here are the detailed notes I put together. These step by step
instructions should work starting with a raw RedHat Linux 9.0 system.

[Fwd: [squid-users] NTLM Authentication Problem]
I submited this to the Squid list, but I got no response which I assume
means that no one has any suggestions. Can anyone give me a clue as to
what I have configured incorrectly. Thanks.

NTLM, Squid & default domain
Morning all,
Im trying to resolve a problem with the way a new squid server im
building handles NTLM authentication for Windows clients that arent
part of the default domain.
I have two groups of PCs. The first group of PC's are in the same
domain as my squid server (which obviously has a working samba running
on it as well). This first group of PC's are using NTLM authentication

NTLM auth problems.
Hi,
I have encountered a problem and I don't know how or if I can work around
the problem.
I setup squid to use NTLM to auth against a 2003 machine. On windows 2003
there is a security option called: "Network Security: LAN Manager
authentication level properties", now the default option for this setting
is: "Send NTLM response only". If I use the defaults, I can connect

Upgrade from 3.0.7 to 3.0.8 breaks winbind
This is my first post to this list.
The domain names etc have been changed slightly in the examples below, but you
should get the idea.
For a long time now (since 3.0.2a?), I have been using the samba 3.0.x series at
one of our client sites.
The Linux server is joined to a Win2k3 Active Directory.
All users are created in the ADS, and the Linux server is able to authenticate
them, etc.

Spurious auth failures with 2.5S3 + wb_ntlm
Greetings:
I am in the process of setting up ntlm-based user authentication with
Squid. Following the various instructions available in the FAQ and on the
mailing list, I have what appears to be a functioning setup: I can use
`wbinfo' to authenticate successfully, and Squid works as configured,
logging my authenticated username into the logs. However, after what
appears to be a random

Urgent Samba / Squid NTLM Auth Problems
Hi,
We are having problems setting up a squid cache server to use NTLMv2
authentication to authenticate users against AD.
We have narrowed the problems down to being a problem between samba and
squid when using NTLMv2. It constantly moans about the password being wrong
when using squid, but doing a direct samba auth works fine. We have
(believedly) narrowed it down to this: the domain requires

ntlm_auth NT_STATUS_INVALID_WORKSTATION Question
Hi all,
I have samba4.2 (Version 4.2.0pre1-GIT-6d2f56d) as AD domain controller.
Some users can only logon to specific window workstation. Now, we want to
configure the samba AD as the user authentication of squid. I use the
following configuration in squid. The users without workstation limitation
can successfully authenticate to squid, but the user with workstation
limitation cannot.

squid, ntlm_auth, winbind problem
Hi all,
please cc me, i'm not on the list.
Second: All google findable information about problems setting up
ntlm_auth for squid with winbind are read and checked more than
three times.
After breaking a running setup under debian squeeze, i go back to debian
lenny to circumvent the actual MIT kerberos problem[1].

wbinfo not looking up groups in mixed MS NT/2k AD
Hello,
I'm having trouble when I try do get a group SID from my domain, the
user lookup and authentication is working fine.
Actually what I'm trying to do is to authenticate squid against MS AD
using winbind. I need to restrict access by group, so I'm using
wbinfo_group.pl to do it.
The machine has been built to be a proxy server only.
I'm using Suse Linux 9.3 Professional
