Trying to add workstation to smb domain and get access denied
Rebooted my system for a windows update. When it came back up, It said the trust between my workstation and DC was broken. (Running Windows 7x64 SP1). Very odd, haven't seen that for a while. I thought it would be easy: unjoin/rejoin. But upon trying to rejoin, I get: The join operation was not successful. This could be because an existing computer account having name 'ANY'

Hi folks, I have updated samba to 3.0.20, on SLES9. I had a configuration earlier, where SLES9 was a domain member 2003 Server (samba 3.0.14a), everything used to work well earlier. After updating.. I rejoined it to AD there was no errors. However, Clients from windows were unable to access the shares. #>getent passwd [2005/08/22 15:41:41, 0] lib/fault.c:fault_report(36)

XP user priviledges with Samba
I've read the achives, but I'm not finding anything. On XP, I can give a local user admin priviledges on his/her local machine when they are logged in to that machine and not the domain. How do I do this when they are logged in to the domain, with Samba as a PDC? Some programs need to create tmp files that they can not if the the user does not have admin privs on his/her machine.

Samba 3.0.20 and UserManager
Hi all. Just tried to upgrade our test PDC server from 3.0.14a to 3.0.20, and now i've stumbled in to the following error. Using the User Manager for Domains causes a "Procedure out of range" error. Using DameWare NT Utilities causes the application to crash. Tried both in WIN2000 and XP. If I downgrade to 3.0.14a again everything is OK. Server Manager works OK in both versions.

Access denied
I'm trying to upgrade from Samba 3.0.14a to 3.0.23b. Using the exact same config file that I did in the older version, and using the exact same share directory and file permissions as I did with the old version, a share that I used to be able to access now returns: tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED When I try to connect to my home directory that's shared on the fly, I

More Random Behaviour
Okay, I'm starting to face professional ridicule at work over this. A Samba install should take a couple of days, I've been at it... far to long now. When this started I chased the problem in all the wrong directions. I thought it was this environment. Now I don't think so. I have Samba 3.0.14a installed on an AIX 5.2 server. I had it running (not the way I wanted, but running).

Multiple Group permissions with Samba
I have been trying to get a straight answer on this and hoping that someone can help me out. This is my current configuration (simplified) and what I need. We have 4 directories. Call them directory "a, b, c, and d". We also have 4 groups. Lets call them "admin, user, exec, db." We would want "amdin" group full control over all directories. Next we want group

Data source name not found and no default driver specified
I'm stumped. When trying to connect to Oracle using the RODBC package I get an error: *[RODBC] Data source name not found and no default driver specified. ODBC connect failed.* I've read over all the posts and documentation manuals. The system is Windows Server 2003 with R 2.81. and the latest downloadable RODBC package. The Oracle SID/DSN is mfopdw. I made sure to add it to Control

Installer Requires Administrator Priviledges

I know that running Wine (1.1.0 in my case) as root is not recommended. :) I'm running an Ubunut 8.04 derivative, so I know I'm not running as root. :D Any suggestions of a work around ? Possible change to group behaviour from 3.0.14a-> 3.0.20?
Hello, I may be missing something, but it seems that there has been a change between 3.0.14a and 3.0.20 which means that a user's primary UNIX group HAS to be mapped to a valid NT group (i.e. the primary UNIX group in the LDAP DB has to have the sambagroupmapping attribute and a SID). Can anyone confirm this as a new requirement or am I being a bit stupid? I'm using an LDAP backend with

"Access denied" errors with version 3.0.20
Samba version 3.0.20 running on FreeBSD 5.4-Stable. Certain users on certain machines are losing access to my fileserver--one moment things are working and the next, they don't work. I can't figure out how to regain connectivity for those users on those workstations (running Win XP Pro). Please help! At about 08:15 on 3 Oct 2005 I was able to save a log file of the problem in action.
