RAID rebuild time and disk utilization....
So I'm in the process of building and testing a raid setup and it appeared
to take along time to build I came across some settings for setting the min
amount of time and that helped but it appears that one of the disks is
struggling (100 utilization) vs the other one...I was wondering if anyone
else has seen this and if so, is their a solution for it...my 2 disks are 1

sedf: remove useless tracing printk and harmonize comments style.
sched_sedf.c used o have its own mechanism for producing tracing-alike
kind of information (domain block, wakeup, etc.). Nowadays, with an even
not so high number of pCPUs/vCPUs, just trying to enable this makes
the serial console completely unusable, produces tons of very hard to
parse and interpreet logging and can easily livelock Dom0. Moreover,
pretty much the same result this is struggling to

issue with kvm host crashing
I have a dell r910 with rhel6.2 on it and libvirt 0.8. This machine is hosting 12 virtual guests. Every 3 - 5 months the server crashes for no apparent reason. The logs show no kernel panics or other issues causing the crash. The sar logs show a very high context switch count ( approx. 170000). and also high runq-sz (approx. 10 - 18). The cpu's were mostly idle, memory usage low, no swapping,

HTB not shaping correctly ? (or bad scripts...)
Hello to everybody,
We have an ADSL link with uplink speed of 530kbit, the goal is to divide the
traffic into three classes,
let say A, B and C.
A data rate of 240kbps must be guaratee to class A.
The remaing rate must be assigned: at least 180kbit to class B and at least
80kbit to class C.
The unused band of class A must be given to class B and C (if needed)
The unused band of class B must be

ZFS partially hangs when removing an rpool mirrored disk while having some IO on another pool on another partition of the same disk
Hello,
Sorry for the (very) long subject but I''ve pinpointed the problem to this exact situation.
I know about the other threads related to hangs, but in my case there was no < zfs destroy > involved, nor any compression or deduplication.
To make a long story short, when
- a disk contains 2 partitions (p1=32GB, p2=1800 GB) and
- p1 is used as part of a zfs mirror of rpool

Binning a 2 column matrix by avarages of rows.
Newbie here. Many apologies in advance for using the incorrect lingo.
I'm new to statistics and VERY new to R.
I have a "nx2" matrix , I want to sort the values based on the average of 2
columns and put k lowest (or highest) values in bin1, second k high/low
values in bin2, and so on (bins would be of the same dimensions). I should
also know what the first index (or position) of

Dovecot optimisation
Hello all.
We start to use Dovecot at our email production but it runs not such
fast as we expect.
We use Dell 2950 with 4GbRAM at FreeBSD-7.0-p9 - load avarage never

We have about 500 clients most of it use Outlook 2007 via IMAP.
We run in this problems:
1) Sync of imap folder is really slow(I think it is Outlook problem)
2) Time after time we got Sync error from outlook

Dovecot Director upgrade from 2.2 to 2.3
Hi Timo,
here you can see two images with the load average and CPU usage with
Dovecot 2.2 (Centos 6) and 2.3 (Centos 7) on the same hardware and same
configuration:
https://imgur.com/a/1hsItlc
Load average increment is relevant but CPU usage is similar.

I do the heavy load test of create/destroy.
CREDIT scheduler(cshed_schedule) checks BUG_ON(!vcpu_running) at the end of code.
It makes error.
The reason is that
atomic_inc(&v->pausecnt)@vcpu_pause() is called without lock.
(spin_lock(&schedule_data[cpu].schedule_lock))
This lock-less "pausecnt" makes vcpu_running state changing

Measuring cpu migrations
Hi,
I am looking to measure how long a thread takes to migrate between cpu''s and how often , what I have is below which is checking just one process is this the correct track to be on here?
My aim is to look at a process and look at upping the reboose_interval on some of our servers.
#!/usr/sbin/dtrace -s
sched:::off-cpu
{
self->cpu = cpu;
self->timestamp=timestamp;

Debugging system load - How to start?
Hi,
we run an "old" mailserver system which was set up a couple of years
ago. The systme dose "everything" what we need(ed). Over the last days I
noticed an unnormal increase of the system load up to 10 and lots of
users told me that there mailclient connections (sending and receiving)
are dropped from time to time.
I was planing to exchange the server respectively distribut

ZFS ontop of SVM - CKSUM errors
Hi.
bash-3.00# uname -a
SunOS nfs-14-2.srv 5.10 Generic_125101-03 i86pc i386 i86pc
I created first zpool (stripe of 85 disks) and did some simple stress testing - everything seems almost alright (~700MB seq reads, ~430 seqential writes).
Then I destroyed pool and put SVM stripe on top the same disks utilizing the fact that zfs already put EFI and s0 represents almost entire disk. The on top on
