samba-3.0.9-1.3E.2
I wouldn't normally hurry you guys about a package release, (because you're
doing an excellent job), but any eta on the above?
samba-3.0.9-1.3E.1 is in the current repos and that install seriously fubar'd my
ADS + winbind setup. samba-3.0.9-1.3E.2 (which requires krb5-libs-1.2.7-31)
fixes the problem.
NB, samba-3.0.7-1.3E.1 (the old version) was fine for me, its only this

Winbind & ssh
Hi All,
I've got winbind happening and can telnet into the box using my NT
account (have manually made home directory) and it works a treat.
When I try to ssh in I get access denied.
As you can see from the log winbind is granting access but it seems that
sshd is blocking access before winbind can get to it? That's a guess of
course.
Any ideas?

Winbind User Login Troubles
I am running Samba version 3.0.9-1.3E.2 on a server that is joined to a
windows server 2003 domain using ADS security. The samba server hosts a
share called 'files'. I am having problems mounting this share using a
new account I set up. getent passwd shows the information for the new
account as does wbinfo -u. Mounting the share with the new users
account using the net use command

CentOS 3.4 + Samba 3.0.9-1.3E.2, winbind problems
Hi all,
Thus far, I have managed to get wbinfo -[u|g] to display users/group
correctly, and getent passwd/group works. However, wbinfo -t fails to
work, giving me this error:
[root@billing samba]# wbinfo -t
checking the trust secret via RPC calls failed
error code was NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED (0xc0000022)
Could not check secret
Further, this seems to be related to a problem with wbinfo -a:

RHEL3 3.0.9 Release & Active Directory Membership
Some preliminary testing indicates that there may be problems in the
newly released Red Hat 3.0.9 packages (not samba.org's) in regard to
joining an AD as a full member (w/kerberos). This may also affect
maintaining current membership in such an environment. If anyone has
already upgraded and is experiencing the same or different behavior
please let me know. Specifically we are seeing

Active directory and winbind RID/SID to uid and gid maping across several linux servers
We are using a windows server 2003 active directory as our single sign
on server. I have been able to get our RHEL4U6 servers to authenticate
with active directory.
My concern is that the RID mapping to unix uid/gid range (15000-20000)
is stored locally on each machine in a tdb database. So far all of the
servers have produced the same mapping, but I do not think it is
guarantied. I think the

Winbind idmap & Active Directory
Hey all,
I'm running the latest and greatest CentOS4 here, along with Samba and
Winbind coupled to an Active Directory server. It's all working smoothly,
bar one little bit, the idmap gui and uid directives. It appears to be
ignoring them completely. I've pasted the relevant directives below...
winbind separator = +
idmap uid = 10000-20000
idmap gid = 10000-20000

Samba (winbind) integration into an Active Directory domain
Hello,
I have an existing Active Directory domain with a couple hundred
users. I am trying to setup our Linux (Gentoo specifically) servers
to allow "seamless" login integration at the console, via ssh and
possibly using smbmount.
I think I've got it pretty close, but seem to be missing something.
When my test user logs in, a home directory is created for them, the
console throws

Problem authenticating against Active Directory (samba 3.0.9 / fedora core 3)
I've spent all day on this, and I can't, for the life of me, get Samba
3.0.9 (updated RPM for Fedora Core 3) to authenticate properly against
Active Directory.
(I've edited out the actual domain name, username, etc)
I've synced up time (to within a half-second) with the domain controller.
Kerberos works:

Robert,
First off, the Samba Technical mailing list is not a help facility. Its
purpose is purely for discussion of samba design and code implementation
issues. Please confine your email to the normal Samba list.
There are several avenues for Samba support:
1. The official documentation that consists of:
Samba-3 by Example - a book that provides detailed deployment gudiance

winbind, active directory and solaris 8
Hi All,
I have a sparc solaris 8 server running samba 2.2.11 (which i complied with
winbind).
The server has been running for years and has about 20 local users setup
using local files for openssh and rexec logins, and samba shares.
They each use samba to map to their home directory and a common shared
folder.
They also use rexec and openssh to login on the command line.
4 users are in a special

Confused about Active Directory, Winbind, and Kerberos
I'm trying to learn how to integrate Linux workstations and servers into
a Windows 2000 Active Directory network. I've read and followed the
Samba HOWTO, especially the parts about Winbind, and I got my Linux
workstation authenticating using pam_krb5 and pam_winbind.
klist would show I got a TGT after logging in. Domain users could login
and pam_mkhomedir would properly setup a new home

Active Directory group membership changes not reflected in winbind information
Hi,
I?ve added an existing group (?2d3d?) to an existing user (?jschopp?) on our AD server. When I execute ?id jschopp? the new group membership is not reflected:
# id jschopp
uid=1333(jschopp) gid=2020(dom?nen-benutzer) groups=2020(dom?nen-benutzer),610(BUILTIN+users)
This is a strange behavior. Is this a caching issue?
Kind regards,
Martin
