folder quotas
Hi all,
Is there a way to implement folder quotas instead of just partition quotas?
I'm trying to limit home dirs from getting out of control.
And I did RTFM but it seems only partition/share quotas are possible :)

quota doesn't appear to work - repquota only updates when quotacheck is run
Hi,
I have exactly the same problem that you experienced in Nov, 2013.
I am using ext4 with journaled quota and the quota usage is only updating when I run quotacheck manually.
Have you found a solution?

Alex

quota doesn't appear to work - repquota only updates when quotacheck is run
I have set up user quotas on an ext4 filesystem. It does not appear that
the quota system is being updated, except when I manually run quotacheck.
More detail: I run "warnquota -s" from a script in /etc/cron.daily. I
noticed that no one had received an "over quota" message in a long time.
Using "repquota -as", it indeed looked as though everyone was under their

Weird breakage with Roaming Profiles and Quotas
Been playing around with Samba as a domain controller a lot lately, with
a rather nice setup. Latest samba and openldap backend, running on
hardware SATA raid 5, with for the moment the only shares on XFS /home
partition ontop of LVM running XFS quotas. It's all nice and spangley,
expect for one thing..
It completely breaks when saving the roaming profile at logoff, and the
quota is reached.

linux-2.4.9-ac5, ext3 and disk quota
Hello,
I am going to set up a new file server ("smb" and "nfs") machine for
the local network of my former school.
Therefore I've just downloaded and successfully compiled
"linux-2.4.9-ac5" (including "disk quota support" and, of course,
support for "ext3 file system").
I've read the statement:

Samba, quotas and disk capacity?
Hi Bernd,
There have been a lot of improvements in Samba since 2.0.5; I know
that the 2.0.7 version is supposed to support unix HFS and VxFS quotas.
Also the "with-quotas" option must be turned on at compile time, so perhaps
your 2.0.5 version was not compiled "with-quotas"...
I tested quotas and the HP 2.0.7 version here and it works the way that Dirk
mentions,

Understanding filesystem quotas
Hello:
I've been trying to set up filesystem quotas for IMAP, and cannot seem to
get it to work. In IMAP clients it either shows quota unavailable or
unknown. I've read the documentation several times.
I've enabled the quota plugins and to my knowledge that part is good.
I've edited the file 90-quota.conf and uncommented these lines and set them
as follows:

Samba behaving badly with quotas
I have successfully added disk quotas to my FC6 system, so that the user
"backup" cannot create files more than 1 block on / The reason I
implemented this was because I backup my system to a USB drive mounted to
/media/drivebay/backup1. However, if the drive is not mounted, then my root
drive fills up (writing to the /media/drivebay/backup1 folder) and linux
hangs.
The problem is,

maildir quotas, dovecot-lda
Hey guys,
Running rc15, I have maildir quotas working with deliver -
however I seem to be unable to get the maildir quota ignore option to work.
Am trying to ignore a user wide directory "Maildir/Filtered/", where
detected virii/spam gets sorted to. Does deliver take notice of the maildir
ignore option ?

Quotas and ext3
Hi All,
I am about to implement ext3 on a large nfs shared partition that is
using quotas (around 2-3000 users) with kernel v2.2.19. Are there caveats
that I should be aware of? Every time someone submits
a bug report Stephen's first question is always 'Are you using Quotas?' :)
TIA

can't get quota working. I use static userdb driver.
Quotas not being counted with 'passwd-file' driver too. Thunderbird
still doesn't show quota bar.
It is mentioned to run passdb with '-d' parameter if quotas aren't
working. Can you explain how to set it up. How to run passdb with '-d'
parameter ? Any configuration file snippet ?

Per-directory quotas
We are running Samba right now to provide user home directories to
Windows users. We are using basic user quotas on the /home partition to
limit disk usage.
But, soon we will be adding additional directories, user, and groups to
allow data sharing among 'workgroups'. We will still need to limit disk
usage, but doing this via the rather crude group quota system won't do.

SAMBA 2.2.5 and quotas (Linux SuSE 7.3)
Hello Group,
I tried this one at the newsgroup linux.samba but got no response.
Now I hope the somebody here can help me.
What I want is simple (IMHO ;-) - working quotas with SAMBA
What have I done:
- compiled SAMBA with qouta.
- set user level security (made smbpasswd for my users)
- applied SuSE's quota (tools) update
- set up user quotas for an ext2fs file system.
- turned quota on.

gfs2 and quotas - system crash
I have tried sending this before, but it did not appear to get through.
Hello,
When using gfs2 with quotas on a SAN that is providing storage to two
clustered systems running CentOS6.5, one of the systems
can crash. This crash appears to be caused when a user tries
to add something to a SAN disk when they have exceeded their
quota on that disk. Sometimes a stack trace is produced in

system shutdown - turning off quotas takes a long time
Hi,
recently I had to instal a new raid storage system for our central
fileserver. It is connected by iscsi (1Gbit) and the fielsystems mounted
are 400GB and 1TB and ext3. curretly about 400 GB are used by 1.5 Mio files.
I turned quota on and did a quota check.
BUT on reboot the system crashes/hangs during 'turning off quotas'
This message shows up about 30++ sec after the shutdown ...
