Samba 4 Packaging Issues
Jelmer-
Unfortunately not, I am still unable to get the 4.0.3 package to build successfully due to the aforementioned error. I have yet to try a different version as I think this to be a problem with my packaging attempts, not with anything within that version of samba.
As I'm new to this, I've been poking around for even just beginner tutorials on the whole 'debianization' of

[PATCH server] cleanup cobbler and put all cobbler traffic on the admin network
This set the cobbler modules dns/dhcp to dnsmasq, removes a duplicate ip replacement in /etc/cobbler/settings, and sets the ip address to the admin network instead of the guest networkwhere it should've been in the first place.

Win8 account sees its home share, but "does not have permissions to access"
Hello,
I am a beginner to Samba and I RTFMd carefully but cannot get started.
I want to access my user account "mark" home directory on Linux, with the
same account name on Windows 8.
The user "mark" has the same password on Linux and Windows 8. In addition
I did this on Linux
>smbpasswd -a mark
and gave the same password.
Following the manuals on samba website I

limiting number of user access...
Hi,
I have a general question on user restriction. I am a beginner IT guy for my
a small company. I like to limit the the number of open connections to 10
connections on an old linux box. If there are 50 allowable users at any
given time what happens to the 40 user that can't connect? Is there a
message that indicates that the server can't accept additional connections?
Thanks,
Nick

Suggestions for packages / help / index (long mail)
Hi R-users and developers,
This month may have seen one of the biggest thread never seen on R-related
mailing lists, the one about "GPL software" and "hidden costs" (at this
day, thread is still open - and active!).
Lot's of mails in this thread are not really relevant to the original mail,
send by Philippe Grosjean.
Nevertheless, most of the mails are of interest and

Samba Install/SWAT Access
I'm running FC3, kernel 2.6.9-1.667, with the KDE desktop. This came with
Samba v 3.0.11-fc3 bundled. I've since installed v 3.0.14a. I'm also
extremely new to Linux, so please bear with me.
My questions are very basic. The FC3-bundled samba is in /etc/samba, and
the "upgrade" went into /usr/local/samba. To get SWAT to work, I had to
copy the smb.conf that's in

How to setup /etc/resolv.conf dependent on network
Hello,
I am a beginner in puppet so please excuse my lack of knowledge.
(I use puppet 3.1).
We have nodes in different networks - they use different DNS servers.
I''d like to set up its /etc/resolv.conf dependent on network they are in.
What approach would you recommend to solve the problem ?
Thanks in advance

How to read a direct access file by connecting fortran with R ?
Hello all,
I would like to read the specific line number row of a direct access file (which is stored as a n_row*n_col matrix of elements kind=p) without reading all the preceding lines (i.e 1,2,..,row-1).
Is there a function in R that can perform this task?
To solve my issue, I tried without to call Fortran from R by doing the following steps:
I) I wrote a subroutine in fortran called

"Beginner" keyword for LLVM Bugzilla?
Hello all!
I mailed the list about this yesterday, but as a reply to another
email [1], so maybe it got lost: could we add a "beginner" keyword to
LLVM Bugzilla, so that contributors could classify bugs as relatively
simple to fix?
LLVM Bugzilla has keywords like "code-cleanup" and "code-quality",
which describe the nature of the PR [2]. I think a

BartPE cannot access samba share after upgrade
We recently upgraded a fileserver from Rh 9 to RHELS 5.4 and samba 3.0.3 to Version 3.3.8-0.46.el5.
After doing so all windows clients are able to authenticate (from a different samba server) but we are unable to access shares from a ghost boot disk made with BartPE.
After being prompted for the username and password it authenticates but when trying to map to a share you get "invalid

MS Access, Endnote, among others
Hello,
Has anybody been able to successfully install MS Office XP Pro in Wine? I
don't care much about the whole suite, I need MS Access, but since I have
a bundled cd, I don't have much choice. Apparently several folks have had
similar problems in this list, and I haven't found solutions. Wine-version
is 0.0.20041201-1 Debian unstable package.

Dear R-user,
I started a few month ago with R and now I think that it is a great program
but in the beginning I was close to give up, because I did not manage to
read
in my files, did not know how the indexing works, where my results are or
did
not understand how R saves my data and so on.
And last but not least the command line might be a hurdle as well for people
who always used
