Polycom behind NAT won't register to * server behind ALG
I?ve been tearing my hair out trying to get a Polycom phone (behind a NAT) to register to an * box behind a Cisco SIP ALG. With known good credentials configured on the phone and in *, I get 403 Bad Auth when trying to register. If I put the phone onto the same LAN as * it works fine without changing any authentication parameters whatsoever. If I make the secret blank (null) on the phone and *,

Anyone used WatchGuard SIP ALG?
Has anyone here used Asterisk inside a WatchGuard firewall, talking via
the WatchGuard SIP Application Layer Gateway to an outside SIP service?
I have a customer doing just that, and I am 100% convinced there is a bug
in the ALG regarding the media port number it inserts into the SDP when
it rewrites it. However, either they or WatchGuard will not accept there
is a bug, despite my very detailed

File locks?
Hello,
Recently, the following problem started happening with a particular samba
server:
If i have a file open for reading (say, a pdf in xpdf) and then try to write
to it (say, through recompiling a latex document) it complains that it
cannot open the file for writing.
this seems like a file lock issue but I am unsure where it is happening. My
previous usage should be perfectly safe since

Problem with ssh-keyscan: no hostkey alg
Hi,
I am using ssh-keyscan with a list of hosts, such as:
ssh-keyscan -t rsa -f hosts_for_keyscan
Some of the hosts in the list have dsa, but no rsa keys. For such
hosts, the command displays:
no hostkey alg
When this is the case for 2 hosts, this message appears twice AND
SSH-KEYSCAN STOPS QUERYING, which means that no keys at all are
returned for the following hosts.
Here is the part of the

Stumped
Hi All,
I tried combing through the archives, but I think that I just went
mental. We're trying to set up a pxe server here using syslinux 2.0.6,
and here's what we've got:
client sends bootp request
receives ip, server to go to and file to fetch.
fetches and executes pxelinux.0
fetches pxelinux.cfg/default
fetches display.msg (defined in default)
displays the text - but when I

RECALL: Lithium batteries for Polycom Soundstation 2W
Just released by the CPSC on their recalls mailing list; please
forward to any venues where you feel operators or resellers of the
SoundStation might be, with this preface included.
My 2W had a battery with the part code 1520-07804-002; its date code
was GP0806, and therefore predates the recall period.
Cheers,

Call not going through and failing because "never answered"
Hi,
I'm trying to use Asterisk to place Automated Voice Calls.
A verbose log from Asterisk CLI taken when I place a call in the spool
directory looks like this:

MP3Player(/myfile) (Retry 1)
== Using SIP RTP CoS mark 5

noobie activerecord find query
In my webapp a todolist has many todo items. I am trying to display
lists that are completed. By incomplete I mean that all the items in
that list are done (booolean = true). I hope to have a list of active
lists and complete lists on one page.
I''m no ruby expert by any means so I think I have to ''pipe'' some results
into another query??
Can you help please?

4.4 update quits unexpectedly
After 2 good updates to 4.4, my 3rd is giving me trouble. I did all 3
installs the same:
yum clean all
yum update python-sqlite sqlite yum
yum clean all
yum upgrade
This one, however, quits during the header download. I get "[Errno -1]
Header not complete, trying another mirror", then "[Errno 256] No more
mirrors to try".
I am not going thru a proxy, and I can't find

According to the CentOS 8 build timeline, everything has been completed except release work. Does this mean CentOS 8 will be released soon?

different separator for acts_as_taggable?
Hi, I am using the acts_as_taggable plugin. I don''t find a way to specify a
different separator. But some of the blogs I come across mentions
"separator" (think this is the gem version)
How do I use a different separator with the plugin? Do I have to hack the
"parse" method in Tag.rb?
Thanks, Hari

File cacheing problem?
I have a Linux box (Pentium III processor, 256M RAM) running
kernel version 2.4.3, and smbmount version 2.0.7. The Linux box has
a Windows 2000 Server share mounted via "mount -t smbfs ...".
I am running into what seems to be a cacheing problem. I am doing
software development on this share, editing the files from a Win98
workstation, and compiling on the Linux box.
However,

SIP signal through one IP and media through different IPs
Hi Everyone,
I have a provider who is asking me to send SIP signals through
111.111.111.111 and then media through Media 1: 222.222.22.222 and Media 2:
244.244.244.244. This provider authenticates by IP and I think is using
Sonus gear and hence they have some load balancer or something...
I have always simply done this to work it out:
host=111.111.111.111
peer=type
and everything worked. But

Authenticate Postfix through Dovecot with slightly different LDAP settings
Hi,
I'm setting up a server with Dovecot (2.2.2) and Postfix (3.1.0).
Dovecot authenticates against LDAP and Postfix uses Dovecots SASL. That
already works fine. But I would like to have slightly different LDAP
settings for Dovecot and Postfix. Current setup:
passdb {
driver = ldap
args = /etc/dovecot/dovecot-ldap.conf.ext
}
userdb {
driver = ldap
